It seems like the number of movies with a theme of hostile/threatening extra-terrestrials invading the earth has gone up dramatically. For no reason whatsoever, I'm going to list some of them here. If you want to add to the list, go ahead.

This year: Battleship, The Avengers, Transformers, Men in Black...
Last year: Battle LA, Skyline, Cowboys & Aliens, Super8, The Thing, Green Lantern...
Recent years: District 9, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Aliens v. Predators, Invasion, War of the Worlds, Signs, XFiles...
Older: They Live, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, 2001,

...and a litany of stupid-cheesey themed movies like Paul, Mars Attacks, etc.

The best brazilian team i've ever seen. Only USA and Spain are better in theory

Squad:

PG: Marcelo Huertas (Barcelona), Larry Taylor (Bauru), Raulzinho (Lagun Aro BGC)
SG: Leandro Barbosa (Indiana Pacers), Marcelo Machado (Flamengo),
SF: Marquinhos (Pinheiro), Alex (Brasilia), Guilherme Giovannoni (Brasilia),
PF: Anderson Varejao (Cleveland Cavaliers), Tiago Splitter (San Antonio Spurs),
C: Nene (Washington Wizards), Rafael Hettsheimer (Zaragoza), Caio Torres (Flamengo)

What do you think?

By Associated Press, Updated: Thursday, May 17, 5:37 PM

SAO PAULO — Brazil’s men’s basketball team will be led by NBA players Nene, Leandro Barbosa, Tiago Splitter and Anderson Varejao when it returns to the Olympics for the first time in 16 years.

The four were part of coach Ruben Magnano’s 15-player list Thursday. Also included was point guard Larry Taylor, who recently became a Brazilian citizen.

Only 12 players will make it to London, but Taylor and the NBA players will likely be on the team because two players on the list are there to gain experience in practice and another has a knee injury and is not expected to recover in time.

Brazil’s men last competed in the Olympics in 1996, reaching the quarterfinals in Atlanta.

There had been doubts whether Nene and Barbosa would be picked because they asked not to play in the pre-Olympic tournament. The request drew criticism from fans and other Brazilian players.

“I decided to give them another chance after personally talking to them,” Magnano said. “I wouldn’t call up a player if I didn’t have any trust in him.”

Nene moved from the Denver Nuggets to the Washington Wizards at the NBA’s trade deadline. Barbosa is in the playoffs with the Indiana Pacers.

Splitter was also still in the playoffs with the San Antonio Spurs. Varejao missed the final part of the regular season with the Cleveland Cavaliers because of a wrist injury.

“This has been a longtime dream of mine,” Varejao said. “I’ve played in a lot of competitions with Brazil, but playing in the Olympics is different. I’m very motivated. I think we have a group capable of fighting for a medal in London.”

Taylor never made it to the NBA. He had been asked by Magnano to practice with Brazil before last year’s Olympic qualifying tournament, but he couldn’t stay on the team because the government indicated the naturalization process wouldn’t be completed in time.

Also on the preliminary squad was Barcelona point guard Marcelinho Huertas. Local players Ricardo Fischer and Ronaldo Rodrigues were “invited” to participate in preparations. Rafael Hettsheimer, who plays in Spain, was included even though he faces knee surgery.

The players gather June 10 for a month of preparations in Sao Paulo and then will play exhibition games before the Olympics.

Brazil will open in London against Australia and then face host Britain. China and Spain, runner-up to the U.S. in the Beijing Games, are also in Group B, along with a qualifier to be determined in Venezuela in July.

The Brazilian basketball federation said Magnano, an Argentine who helped Brazil earn the Olympic spot in last year’s qualifying tournament in Argentina, it extended his contract until the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Mark Jackson doesn't regret having guaranteed a postseason berth in his first season.

Jackson believes the Warriors, who finished with a 23-43 mark during the regular season, were better than their record indicated.

“We’re closer than that,” Jackson said. “At the end of the day, we are what our record said we were. But we’re much closer. You take a look … we closed the season with our four best players injured (Andrew Bogut, Stephen Curry, David Lee and Dorell Wright). … We are much better than our record indicated.

“But we’re going to have to get healthy and then continue to build toward putting some proper pieces around our star pieces.”

Golden State will be slotted seventh overall in the 2012 NBA draft lottery.

“I think it’s a very deep draft with a lot of talent,” Jackson said. “Certainly, the seventh pick or better will give you somebody who can play right away and help us. What we’ll do as an organization – management, ownership, and I’m definitely blessed to be part of the decision-making process.

“We’ll sit down, take a look at all the guys and make a decision. But we feel comfortable with this draft of getting someone who will help us.”

Wishing luck to the other 7 teams.

In view of the many last second shots that have been missed in this years playoffs, sports shows and clowns (announcers) are now in heated discussion on how effective these "superstars" are in taking and making the last shot to win a game. The percentages are surprisingly turrible! Kobe is pathetic. Lebron is even worse. Wade, Pierce and Durrant are also poor. I've always maintained that at the end of the game, with 5 seconds or less to go.....the best you can do is draw up a play that allows the best chance of success....and that means not a go to guy, but a go to "play", designed to get a wide open look at the basket by whomever is open! Even Jordan's end of game winning shots were extremely poor percentage wise.....and it wasn't until he recognized the "go to play" was better than him forcing a shot with 2 guys strapped all over him, that the Bull's began to close out games! Steve Kerr, Paxton, and Horrace Grant all hit game winners when Jordan passed them the ball for wide open looks, rather than take the shot himself under extreme duress! I thought the look Steve Blake had last night was better than ANYTHING Kobe could have manufactured on his own! The Spurs are the best example of this concept as they ALWAYS draw up a go to play....and then hope the wide open shot is made! Remember when they beat the Knicks on that last second shot by Avery Johnson? That play was drawn up to go to the guy most wide open! It was him and he knocked it down!

It's a good look at rebounding technique in general. Read if desire overcomes you to do so. It would be interesting to analyze how Favors and Kanter do in their technique. Favors seemed to really pick up his rebounding half way through the season. That is all.
