Race for the 31st pick

Did teams have less time on the clock for their pick in the second round than the first round? It seems like that was the case and so I'm sure it will be nice for the teams to have a little bit more time to make deals.

From a FO standpoint I can see where they would want to split it up. It feels like the most amount of trades happen in the second round, so before they had less time to do more work.

From a league perspective there is no downside, they get a chance to make a little more money.

From a fan perspective I don't care that much. As long as the first round isn't dragged out too much. I won't watch the second round now, just like I didn't watch the second round before.
Yeah I think its a couple less minutes. Also having a full day pause allows for A LOT of conversations to happen.

I always watched 2nd round and enjoyed it but I am on PST. Wouldn't stay up that late otherwise. Like I said... I get why they did it but for me personally I won't watch after we pick or trade the 31st pick.

The first round will continue to have five minutes between draft picks. For the second round, the time between draft picks will increase to four minutes from two minutes.
I bet less people tune in as a result.

It is a battle between how many people turn off the second round normally and how many will tune in for day 2. No idea who wins. I'm guessing it won't be a huge victory. I'm fine with whatever.

Just did a jazz mock and ended up with

Sheppard
George
Chomche

Right now my dream draft other than getting a top 4 pick.

#9 (maybe 8) - Reed Sheppard but if he is not there Dalton Knecht. I want the shooting those guys provide. Outside chance Topic falls.

#28 & #31 - depends on who we draft earlier. I like Nunez, Kolek, George, Chomche, Furphy, Jones, Ajinca.

I do think Detroit is very close to being a respectable team now that they have Simone.

Duren/Simone/Cade is a respectable starting trio. I dont like Stewart as a starter, but as a 3rd big he would have potential. I think Sasser is on track to being one of those "He's the best backupg PG in the league, he can probably start for 10 teams" type of PG. And Thompson is insanely talented.

I'd be looking to upgrade off Ivey personally. I think Sexton would actually be a really good fit, but Detroit doesnt really have anything I would be too excited about unless they are willing to deal Thompson, which I would be shocked by. They dont have anyone's first round picks and their own picks are encumbered by protections on a pick owed to NYK.

Drafting a dude like Risacher would be ideal for them imo. You want to get BPA, but I would be worried about drafting a questionable shooter. Sheppard would also be a good fit.

Then they have a ton of money to get the best veteran they can.

So Simone gets hurt and the Pistons haven't won a game since. He should get some MVP buzz.

They are two games back, but have a huge game coming up against the Wizards on Friday, and then actually have some more winnable games down the stretch.

The dream is still alive.

How has Simone been doing before his injury?

Topic has disappeared from the face of the earth for the past couple months. Once he reappears, he'll likely be the #1 PG taken in the draft. I can't see him falling to the Jazz.

I don't think he gets past SA. But man it would be something to have to choose between Topic and Shep. I think I'd want Shep still but maybe that's crazy I dunno much about Topic admittedly.
