Race for the 31st pick

The dream of the Pistons getting to not last place is slowly dying. They barely lost to Memphis in a game they were actually favored two nights ago, then Washington pulls out an unexpected win over the Bucks last night.

One of the reasons the Bucks won is rookie Tristan Vukcevic who had 14pts, 7reb, and 3 ast last night. Tristan is the 42nd pick in the draft last year and was just recently brought over from Europe. It will be interesting to see if he can have a couple of more nice games before the end of the season.

Truly unbelievable that after the garbage season we had that you signed us up to root for the ****ing Pistons. We didn’t have enough negativity in our lives already?!?!?

Ha Ha.

In all seriousness though, I really have had fun cheering for the Pistons. I don't feel any emptiness when they lose or their players don't play well since I don't have any long term investment in their future. I only feel happiness and excitement when they win, which doesn't happen very often, but way more often than the Jazz. It's kind of a cheat code for sports fandom, to cheer for things you don't really care that much about. I would definitely recommend this type of diversion to others who are struggling with our current Jazz team. My other diversion that has helped me this season is following the players from the 2023 draft. Man this Jazz season has mostly been rough.

After the Pistons big win they put themselves in position for a tie for last place. If Detroit beats San Antonio and Washington loses to Boston then they will end the season with the same record.

I'm assuming their is coin flip for the 31st pick if they tie? I don't remember there ever being a coin flip for a 2nd round pick?

It could be for 5th and 6th as well, if neither one gets lottery ball luck.

I believe they coin flip for 1st and 2nd position and whichever team wins get the second position in the second round. Either way if there is a coin flip we will lose that **** guaranteed.

There was one year where we were in a three-way tie and if my memory serves, the other teams each got the heads and tails and we would have been the winner had the coin landed on its edge.

Interesting subplot: Detroit plays at San Antonio, with the Blazers having caught the Spurs in their tank race. Spurs might be motivated to lose. That could put Detroit and Washington in a tie. Wizards are playing the Celtics and are riding a 5-game losing streak.
