Chances the suns decide to blow it up?

They were swept by the pups. They have no assets or cap or picks over the next 5-7 years or whatever to improve their team. They are in even more dire straights then Utah was when we blew it up.

I know we’ve had a discussion on Booker, and the consensus mostly being that they might not want to trade him, but not doing a full rebuild is going to still have this team behind as far as building back up we talking about 7-10 years to get back where they need to be and Booker I’m sure doesn’t want to start over. I see no point why the suns would unload Durant and Beal now and not Booker. It’s should be a fire sale over there

Sure, they can. Then the Spurs or the Thunder will get Booker: besides the allure of playing with Wemby or the OKC core for Booker both of them have a much better draft picks stash then the Jazz. Unless you think that the Suns will purposefully take the lesser offer or that better stars will become available this season, SAS/OKC spend their stash on them and the Jazz will have the most capital to get Booker.

Ishbia seems like an unhinged lunatic so maybe. I think they only move Book or KD if they ask out though. I could see KD doing it but Book might wait a year. Blowing it up is like the last option on the table though... they don't control their own picks until Jesus comes back.

Chances they should? They need to immediately blow it up while KD still has value. They have 2 protected 2nd round picks over the next 6 years and that's it. It's sad to see their "Donovan" go, but now is the time to sell anyone for this years draft. If you can get a terrible team's 1st 2025 pick + others, you do it.

Booker seems a pretty savvy individual. I'd guess he'd jump at the chance to play with Wemby. Would be a very fun pairing to watch.

Would you add Booker and Durant to Lauri for say, 8 of our draft picks?
I dont think I would do that, period.

Stacking KD with 2 great offensive players who arent great defenders hasnt really worked, and even if Lauri is different than Beal (or Harden or Kyrie), I think the bigger problem comes with the current CBA.

You need to construct the roster in a way where you got high level defenders and role players and with current CBA I dont think you can stack too many elite scorers (unless they are all great defenders as well). Even if you have assets, you need to match salaries and cant sign anything but vet minimums once you go over the 2nd apron, and that team is gonna go over that mark for sure.

If you had any chance to add Booker while holding onto a few key folks like Lauri, then you do it. No brainer.

The issue with adding Booker is that he isnt going to want to come to Utah. If you bring him in you need to make sure you are close to having a great roster so you can at least placate him with a successful team.

They are going to try and trade KD first and see what that gets them.

You can't trade Booker and Durant for 8 draft picks, you also need to match salaries. Booker and Durant make 100 million next season. Even if the Suns are willing to trade them for 8 picks and, for some reason, take bake any matching salaries, even if it is the overpaid contract of Collins... even then Collins+Clarkson+Sexton only gets you to 59 million. You then have to spend ALL of the available cap space and throw in at least one of the team's young players. The bench will have to be filled out with players like Samanic.

The Jazz don't have great options even if they become available. They are in a bad place where almost available choices has an unwanted cost. But that makes sense a championship is where you make better choices than all teams.

Personally, I would work on trades that would enhance our draft pick values (more quality not quantity unless quantity is the only option). Finding a way to remove the Lakers protections at a reasonable cost would be great. Trading for Gobert but keeping the 2009 and a swap would be fantastic (unrealistic but heh the 2009 would increase in value). Moves like that would be my sweet spot for the team. I know Danny wants to trade for big-time talent but I think that era is over. Teams don't want to end up like Phoenix and they are all becoming like us nickel and diming everything except for the FA agent dream destinations.

The Jazz likely have to nickel and dime themselves for several years to be back in contention.

Give them 4-5 picks Collins and Sexton to go with KD AND Beal might entice them. The return for KD won’t be what it used to be.

As far as Booker goes, he’s under contract and joining Markkanen and three up and coming players coming off their rookie seasons with the ability to add more.

I wouldn't be interested in Durant, but surely someone is.

If Booker is attainable, we can probably offer more than most. Durant would sell for plenty to someone. I think Booker is a better than average defender who would match really well with Maarkanen.

Do you need a big 3 in today's NBA? The playoffs are showing otherwise.

You need HIM. And you need some all star or borderline AS talent that fits HIM. The challenge is there are like 8-10 HIM’s and none of them will get traded for a year or two. When they do they will have a list. Gonna have to draft HIM.
