The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I really appreciate the Knicks ability to consistently have exciting playoff games.
This is why they are the team I'm rooting for above everyone else. That are a fun watch

Hart played all 48 minute

Thibs is going to end up running these guys into the ground. These minutes that he is having guys play is crazy and not sustainable. I understand that injuries are forcing his hand a bit but having a bunch of guys playing 40+ minutes a game is brutal. We may have seen OG be the first victim of the heavy minutes with a hamstring injury tonight.

Another random thought after the strays Riley threw out in his presser. I think he is trying to get Jimmy to ask out... he doesn't want to extend him. They are also over the tax next year which is a no-no for them. So moving off Jimmy and using the assets to go get Donovan (with some other stuff they have) is where he will try to go. Swapping an old max star for a newer max star creates some cap flexibility and they can build around Don and Bam. Something like Herro or Rozier and Martin, Jovic and picks to Cleveland... Donny to Miami. Jimmy ends up in Philly's cap space and sends some picks.

Both times Riley went at stars a bit they ended up leaving... Bron may have already been gone. Wade was clearly pissed off and signed with the Bulls.
I got that exact same sense. He doesnt randomly throw guys under the bus... he does it with purpose.

I got so much grief when suggesting we trade for Josh Hart, especially when it came to suggesting trading one of our all offense+no defense players....he was available at so many different points in his career.

I think you're right that Riley wants to trade Butler, he probably doesn't need Jimmy to ask out though. He'd just do it. I think they get some assets for Jimmy and then make the move for Mitchell. It will reset them around Bam+Mitchell.....they always find a way to get the spare parts together so it's a good plan imo.

I'm expecting Butler to get traded whether he asks out or not.

So the pacers just sent in a complaint of 78 missed calls to the nba, and stated that small markets deserve a fair shot.

I haven’t watched either game, do they have a valid complaint or is this whining at its worst?

I felt like New York was taking advantage of poorly officiated game. By comparison Denver tried to do the same to minny and minny just played through the contact

Well in game 1 the refs called a kicked ball violation late in the game on Nesmith in a situation where the ball didnt even hit his leg and then called an illegal screen at midcourt when Pacers were down 1 with 10 seconds to go.

Now the screen by Turner was illegal but it was not blatant so youd expect them to let it slide. In L2M they actually admitted that same call was missed on DiVincenzo 40 seconds earlier.

Game 2 felt like more of the same. There were a few shooting foul calls and non-calls at the end that went Knicks way, but it wasnt like game 1 that was more or less decided by the refs who gave favourable calls to Knicks on 2 key possessions inside the last minute.

In case others havent been watching...

OG Anunoby has leveled up in these playoffs. He suddenly looks much more versatile on offense and carried the Knicks like a true #1 for most of last game. He scored in a variety of ways and created his own offense as well.

Also on the other end he had Siakam in jail up to a point where Carlisle sat him for few extended stretches mid-game.

Left with a hammy injury early in the 4th though... so not sure if they get him back.

Also a sidenote:
Hartenstein is super underrated as a passer. I think he could be a really good offensive hub.

I feel bad for knicks fans because if they were healthy I would take them over Boston to come out of the east.

Hartenstein gonna get like $20M a year this offseason. If I didn't want us to tank he would be one of the top FA guys I think we should target as I think he is gettable. That little in between flip shot he has is also such a tool.

Yeah that shot I knew he had and its awesome as you said, but check also his assists from last game.

The dimes to Divincezo and Brunson cuts were high level entry passes and two quick high IQ kickouts that made him look like a real hub center.

Personally, I watched the game hoping the Pacers would take it, and I didn't find the officiating all that lopsided. Might be some key moments, but on the whole I thought the refs did well.

Depends on Lauri and Kris and where we fall in the lotto. May not have quite enough. Might be able to finesse a Clarkson sign and trade with NY so they don't lose him for nothing?

I think Bobby Marks said that he wouldn't be surprised if the Knicks picked up Fournier's option just to keep their team salary high and for future trades. Collins might be a better fit for them though. I would definitely pay Hartenstein $20M+ over Collins.

Hartenstein would give us that elusive player that can both be a defensive anchor and offensive hub in the middle of the floor as a passer.

We are seeing the opportunity cost of taking a guy like Collins into our capspace that never fit.
