I believe this is exactly the reason the Jazz signed 3 very good defensive and offensive guards this offseason.
Marvin and Mo I believe will be the most effective at helping Jefferson out here.
Not to mention Favors will continue to be more dominant defensively as well.

The more I think about these trades, the more I feel like the Jazz are building around Jefferson.

There is no reason why the Jazz haven't signed Millsap to a 4 year 40 million dollar deal. The guy is clearly worth it, especially considering the Nets just signed Humphries for more than that.

Favors is our defensive stopper, and it looks like for the next couple of years, our offense will be the Orlando Magic offense....Toss the ball into Jefferson and have three point shooters spread the floor. It's probably not a bad strategy. I think I would like it even more if we had a Tony Parker/Steve Nash/Chris Paul pg in there as well. Someone that could dominate the ball a bit, run some pick and roll with Favors, and when the shot clock got down to 10, dump it in to Jefferson and let him take on the world.

I absolutely do not like Jefferson, but the more I think about it, the more I wonder if the Jazz feel he is young enough to change his offensive game a little and they are going to try to build around him, then hope he passes the torch off to Favors 3-4 years from now.

...well, you have to give the Jazz front office credit for not spending like drunk'in sailors! They are trying to piece together a better playoff team than last year....without flushing money down the toilet! It, in fact, should be a better team and more watchable than ones we've had in past years!

That could very well be the case now. That's why I think Millsap is gone and Al will be here for a long time.

I tend to agree. Paul may prove difficult to re-sign, especially when you look back at the last round of negotiations with him and his uncle. Paul's not a great defender and neither is Al. But a 5 is much harder to find than a backup 4. Having Jefferson allows Kanter to develop and gradually increase his minutes as his skills increase. Finding another 4 shouldn't be too hard via free agency or in the draft.

This is a super good signing - not breaking the bank for a guy who plays pretty good defense and can shoot - he's streaky, but he's an upgrade to CJ. Now that our 1-3 can actually make threes, I expect our big men to play even better....

Wow! What's not to like? A 6'0" combo guard? His career 42%/33% marks? Though he has shot 37.5% the last two seasons I suppose. If he keeps his mouth shut, I'm fine with it but I think we needed a 5 more. Perhaps this is a sign a trade is in the works? Williams/Tinsley/Watson/Hayward/Burks/Murphy and now Lowry?

Yeaah I'm not worried about Burks' place yet. After he dominated summer league I don't think they rushed to sign someone to take his minutes. There's always the Corbin factor to worry about though

Burks was a rookie who didn't have the benefit of summer league or a real training camp and only two preseason games. I'm guessing he wasn't ready to play big minutes, but as time went on he earned more and more time, and often finished games. Your acting as though this signing means Burks will never get off the bench. My point is if Burks shows he's worthy of extra playing time or starting, then Burks will get his regardless of this signing.

You say if a player deserves minutes he will get them. Remember when favors was our best player and the most likely candidate to be our franchise player? Then remember how favors would get less than 20 minutes per game? Remember when tinsley was outplaying watson, but corbin kept playing watson ahead of tinsley cause watson was more experienced in the jazz system? And again remember when corbin was playing bell (one of the worst players in the league) ahead of burks? I dont care if burks was a raw rookie with no training camp, he was still the better option than bell.
