Gas prices are held up by the oil companies that will charge whatever they feel like charging, regardless of the price of a barrel of oil.
When was the last time you saw a lobbyist for alternative energy running around congress?

the fact that you are ready to (1) reduce health care and care giving to a commodity right out of the gate, and (2) equate that commodity with oil -- especially foreign oil -- is just too over-the-top laughable.
