I pay about $650 for my wife. daughter and me. A $1,000 deductible, with health, dental, vision, life .....I think that is astronimically high but I would rather be covered than not, after seeing my mother in law get cancer and her bills go into the hundreds of thousands ..... Is $650 way high? Would it have been a lot cheaper before Obamacare? FYI for the most part I think Obamacare is a good idea, I think insurance companies are jacking up prices to spite Obama for trying to control them.

I guess I'll get a good idea of how much this will impact my health insurance costs during my open enrollment period in roughly a year when it's time to make elections for 2014. Since 2014 will be the first year without denial of coverage for preexisting conditions, are the insurance companies going to determine premiums for that year based on their estimates of how the preexisting condition change will play out?

I got a message from Trout from the other side:

"Trout brokers for ALL of the major carriers in Utah (and 38 other states) including IHC, Regance Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Humana, Altius, etc. If your premiums are high, call him and have him quote everyone else for you - you might be surprised to find out that your insurance thru work is more expensive than getting your own plan."

He also wanted me to share his digits, so here it is...

    1-801-641-7641

He's giving me a candy bar for doing this. Candy is good.

I'm 40yrs old. My policy covers my wife and currently 4 children. We are all in good health with no poor history.
My premium is $1,300/month. That sucks.

Is one of your kids on his own plan? You have 5, right?

Correct. My oldest is married and gone. The 6th hasn't arrived yet. I just cried a little as I wrote that .. and it wasn't because of the one that left.

That's pretty crazy. I suppose it isn't being subsidized?

I know many people who's insurance is between 1000-1200+ for their insurance.

I pay 246 a month for my family and we have dental and vision added into that. Federal insurance is nice. She pays about the same for secondary coverage for the family.

Me, her and my soon to be three kids will all have double coverage.
