Didn't like the way he'd chew that gum out of the side of his mouth, smirky smile....and then say something semi-unprofessional. I'll bet dollars to donuts that in a pickup game, he'd choose all his homies before he'd even consider taking Stockton!
interesting thread. racialism noted.
I also respect John Stockton.
Alright, I got love for the guy now.
He should have respect for Stockton. EVERY player should past or present. Stockton is a legend. I respect Payton for his comments on Stock. Everyone should respect what he brought to basketball. His Assist's totals record is almost unbeatable. And no one ran the floor like Stockton, no one ever will. He is arguably the best point guard to pl ay in NBA history. I have followed the Jazz since the late 80's. I am yet to see a point guard facilitate the ball the way he did.
You can't win a race without putting band-aids on your nipples.
I would agree. But I think it would be better to class a few types of pgs to measure them. e.g. there are stockton type of pg's, new age d-rose type of pg's then again, pgs who have great fundemental but forward height so they are really convertible in the rotation. Stockton is the best of his kind I have seen too.
Awesome memories of Stockton/ Payton matchups. Worth the price of admissions, plus some. Both amazing PGs, lots of mutual respect, worked their arses off every play, thrived on the competition on both ends. A matchup for the ages. Payton had amazing athleticism and IQ. I have no doubt that if Payton got in HOF first, Stock would have asked him to present, not Isaih.
I remember when I was a kid Gary came to Moscow and destroyed the Vandals like they were 5 year old girls. It was the most dominating athletic performance I have ever personally seen.
Gary had one of the sweetest floaters of all time. He truly was one of the greats.
"I'm a moron for thinking the Browns could even sniff 10 wins in a division where the other three teams (two of whom almost always make the playoffs) made the post-season last year. Gyp Rosetti's thee God of football knowledge." - Brown Notes
When I'm bored I like to visit other basketball team sites and see what they have to say about the Jazz. Came across this earlier today and thought it was an interesting read. Some thoughts on Stockton from Celtics fans...
