woman dies because doctors refuse to do life saving abortion because of what????

So "catholic country" let this poor woman die...another victim of religion based laws which should not have place in 21 century's medicine. I thought better of Ireland. Shame on them.

"This is a Catholic country," was what Irish doctors told Savita Halappanavar after she learned she was miscarrying her pregnancy and asked for an abortion to avoid further complications. She spent three days in agonising pain, eventually shaking, vomiting and passing out. She again asked for an abortion and was refused, because the foetus still had a heartbeat.

She died of septicaemia and E Coli. She died after three and a half days of excruciating pain. She died after repeatedly begging for an end to the pregnancy that was poisoning her. Her death would have been avoided if she had been given an abortion when she asked for it – when it was clear she was miscarrying, and that non-intervention would put her at risk. But the foetus, which had no chance of survival, still had a heartbeat. Its right to life quite literally trumped hers.

That shows us everyone need to stick with his/her own speciality. A religious functionary or a religious/conservative government should not interference with science and medical subjects. Implementing an abortion sometimes is necessary for health issues and doctors should decide to do it or not to do it.

But what niggling me about this story; Ireland is an Europe Union country and they got free movement for their people for around all Europe Union countries. Well, i`m not a specialist about international law but as a people of EU why she didn`t choose to get treat at more democratic and secular countries (like England) and especially in an event that necessity of an abortion is so obvious and a matter of life and death..?

P.S. And current government in Turkey trying to illegalise abortion and if that happens im afraid we`ll heard about events similar with that one around here.

Ireland has passed a law making it illegal to go to anohter country forthe purposes of getting an abortion. Not to mention that once Savita was admitted, it's much more difficult to leave.

My opinion is if you want an abortion for no other reason then your not ready to have kids. That's what adoption is for. But if it's medical yes I have no problem with getting an abortion. That story is a tragedy. It's not like the kid was going to live. That's just stupid. Don't the doctors down there have any compassion.

There are a lot of kids who need to be adopted and never will be though. Its a sad life growing up without a family.

Amount killed because of Mao : 65 Million.
    Stalin : 20 Million
    Hitler : 6 million
    Pol Pot : 2 Million

All these people were atheists. Read Hitlers Table Talk in which Martin Bormann himself says Hitler is an atheist.

The 20th century was the bloodiest century in Human existence. I've seen what atheism brings, an ocean of blood, a mountain of bodies. All these atheists crying crocodile tears over the crimes of religion while ignoring the larger crimes of atheism.
