EDIT: Ah. Found what you were using. Hollingers player stats. Jefferson was ninth in defensive rebound rate last year, and that's what we're concerned with in this discussion. If you want to bring OReb% into play, fine, but Garnett's OReb% is MUCH worse than Jefferson's, and you wouldn't call Garnett a below average rebounder, would you?

All the talk is about his defensive rebounds. I highly doubt anyone refers to his offensive rebounding to describe his rebounding ability.

Good point. Defensive rebounds are easy, just sacrifice all effort on team defense, make at least a half hearted box out, and you'll generally be in optimal position to get them. We saw this with Boozer for over half a decade. That is what I'm seeing from Jefferson this year, a whole lot of Boozeresque type play on the defensive end. Likely attempted stat padding knowing his contract is coming up.
If you want to make that argument, then fine, but at absolute worst, he's an average to slightly above average rebounder. Very steady, which makes him not exceedingly reliable when you HAVE to have a rebound.

He's at 20.2 TRB% this year so far.
In these lists, Big Al is a better/more active offensive player than all but the HOF'ers pretty much. Dennis Rodman was a great rebounder (see all the TRB on him if you like.) But he was a one dimensional player - but is a HOFer... Jefferson is ahead of Olajuwan(sp) career wise. These "best rebounder" lists are not top heavy with guys with big offense.

Big difference in Al's game has been his effort level. As his minutes and shot attempts have gone down his rebounding numbers have gone up. Turnovers too, but IMO that is mostly due to him trying so much harder to initiate transition instead of hugging the ball.
Odd but less is more, and especially more well rounded.
