And people wonder why Burks isn't playing. Here are two players getting "demoted". One works harder. Another sulks and demands a trade.

Yeah, in the two games Hayward went to the bench he's averaging more points and 10 less minutes, but only because the Jazz had closed out their last two games by the beginning of the 4th and because Ty's substitution patters are bizarre. Plus he's handing the ball way more with the 2nd unit. Hardly a demotion.

Burks on the other hand has averaged a whopping 8 minutes of playing time in the game's he's played. No wonder why he's sulking, that idiot Ty won't give him a chance out there. But Foye can put up a three game stretch of averaging 5 points and shooting 23% from the field and still get 20+ minutes a game. I guess when you're a streak shooter and can rack some 3s on occasion you get minutes no matter what. And I don't even hate Foye, in fact I like his 3 point shooting. But he seems to get away with a lot more bad stretches of play than Burks does.

you gotta wonder, would hayward be coming off the bench if he were black?
maybe hayward has just accepted the reverse racialism in the NBA at this point.
maybe, he needs to insert himself into the starting lineup and refuse to go to the bench until officials physically force him.
I'm not saying Hayward has the opportunity to be the NBA's reverse Rosa Parks, but I'm not saying he doesn't, either.

I'm not wild about Hayward being on the 2nd unit, but the silver lining is he might learn how to be a more effective driver. He's not a good finisher off the drive, but he has shown flashes of that stop and pop move which could be his weapon. And he's a terrific passer off the drive even if he more often sets up guys for long jump shots than finds easy layups.

The alpha dog training in Olympic practices obviously didn't take. So he needs "practice" doing it in games which could help him in the long run.

When Hayward starts, he's the third option, behind Jefferson and Millsap. Most of his game as a starter is throwing the ball down low to Jefferson.

Hmm, well here's a question then: Who is better; Hayward or Jefferson/Millsap? Should Hayward be behind these guys based on NOW ability (not potential) or is Hayward backing off to avoid conflict? If Hayward is better than these guys than shouldn't they be passing the ball to him?

Me personally, I think at least offensively Al is better than Hayward while Hayward has a leg up on Millsap. I know others will disagree.

Got to love Hayward. He's playing a lot better since coming off the bench. Whatever works he's ok with, as long as he plays.

Well he's averaging 2 more PPG in 10 less minutes on the court. Though with 2 games it's a really small sample size. I think most of it is just the proverbial eyeball test where it seems like he's more active and controls the ball more with the 2nd unit.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty tired of our offense being held hostage by Jefferson-Millsap. Everything is shifting around because of those perceived needs. Bleh.

comparing to other young players, he did show his game and should be comfortable about whether if the league knows him. but then there is this common ego of getting back to the bench after being a starter so I think he would not like that in the long term.
