hmmm, interesting point silencer, I hadn't considered the racialism aspects of thanksgiving.
I agree that is indeed a very white holiday.
Though blacks were kept as slave during it's inception, I do not think blacks specifically associate racialism with thanksgiving tho.
Native Americans, though, are a different story. The white man basically unleashed a holocaust on these poor peoples.
You gotta wonder if Native Americans still feel the pain of racialism this holiday symbolizes in a lot of ways.

Came down to St. George for thanksgiving with her family and they didn't tell us that they planned on eating tomorrow an one. When I am at work...
So my thanksgiving meal was Jack-In-Box.
Coincidence? I think not. I think moving Thanksgiving a day forward just so they don't have to eat with you is a little harsh, but it is what it is. You can stop caring about the world fighting each other now. You've got a future war with the In-laws on your hands that will be requiring your full attention.
I must say, after having a small Thanksgiving last year, it was super nice to be back with the uncountable mass of people that make up my extended family this year. No trouble fielding Turkey bowl squads with that group, watching boring NFL football games all of the sudden becomes interesting with the banter going back and forth/guys talking out of their ass, kids running around causing havoc, cousins showing up with absolute woofers on their arms telling us they are about to get married making the whole room go silent out of pity. That's Thanksgiving.

Haha. Totally off topic, but that girl does actually live in Provo now. Going to be a UVU nursing student come January. She's not here for me(at least I hope not), but I think I did convince her to step outside of her shell a bit. Money well spent......

Had lunch with the entire family, played video games, slept for a couple hours, woke up, ate dinner, slept some more, and now I can't go back to sleep. My day all summed up. Turkey makes me sleepy. Happy Thanksgiving!
Our families are very different. I love Thanksgiving becuase of that chaotic mess.
That's what I was saying I liked too. The going silent part was that there was about 20 of us in this theatre room thing watching The Lions game, and then one of my cousins busts in and roams up to front of the screen with his lady friend and everybody starts busting his ass about being in the way and then he announces he's engaged to this girl we've never seen and the whole room just went silent for like 20 seconds as everybody starts eyeing his fiance closer. .... It was so awkward.
But yeah, you know what? Screw Thanksgiving. I only got like 2 hrs of sleep last night due to overconsumption of food.
