(first update) Offseason to-do list:
(no order)
1. Let Mo, Foyeeee3, Al (s&t?), Watson, and Tinsley go.
2. Re-sign Carroll
3. Draft McCollum, Schroeder, and Giannis (leave the latter two in Europe for a year [maybe two years for Giannis]).
4. Sign Tony Allen
5. Try to keep Millsap. If that doesn't work, explore s&t options.
6. Remove Corbin. Hire Brad Stevens or SVG.
7. Sign Calderon to a one-year (2 max) deal, or see if the cash-strapped Lakers will let us absorb Nash's last year.
I think he can be better than M. Gasol in a lot of ways, but one way in which I see Marc always being better is passing. Kanter has got horrendous tunnel vision. I don't know why he can't watch film and realize that he should not try to lay the ball up with three guys around him. How can he continuously do the same thing? He shot 7/16 last game and he was blocked 5 times. In light of this number, 7/16 is not that bad.

Jerry Sloan: "I have to blame myself for Andrei's failure to be able to play at times because maybe I haven't handled him the way he'd like to be and done the right things"
I'm just glad we're talking crap about him and he has 18/8!
For that to be a meh performance, he has to be pretty damn talented. I think the Al comparison is not bad, but as noted there are some pretty key differences that make Kanter's upside SO much higher.
Al has much better hands, reach, and probably touch. Kanter has him hands down with the bully attitude and that warrior demeanor more than anything buys him more time as far as I'm concerned. But the guy is not an elite talent and will get everything he gets the hard way.
I quoted Cy because it's clear that the dude was drafted to run that low post play. He better be elite at that play cuz if he isn't better than Al (he's not) this is a huge mistake not drafting the true prototype center in JV. All you guys hating on Al and Corbs better pay attention to how this player is used. In exactly the same manner as Al. If you like that play, the iso center off deep post, this is your future. If you wanted a center that does all the little things and is not worried about being the hub of the offense you probably wanted JV.
You guys are all over Kanter's effort now, but this cannot be sustained over 35 minutes. It can't. He will have to slow down somewhere, and when he does this forum will ride his ass all the way to hell for it.
"I'm a moron for thinking the Browns could even sniff 10 wins in a division where the other three teams (two of whom almost always make the playoffs) made the post-season last year. Gyp Rosetti's thee God of football knowledge." - Brown Notes
I don't like the Al and Kanter comparison.
Al's got this slithery and unorthodox way about him on the court whereas Kanter kinda plays like a rock on the court.
Al's kinda squeezes his body to get his jump shot off. Really unorthodox, but it works.
Kanter's shot is balanced, very good follow through. It's almost picture perfect as far as I can tell. I'm not trying to be biased, I just think his jumpshot looks real good.
Al's got that push shot that I just don't see Kanter developing. Al's push shot comes through his body turning towards the hoop. Very unorthodox and it works.
Kanter has to use his strength to rebound. Al's rebounding comes a lot from his great wingspan.
There's a lot more...but I'd like to see Kanter develop more into a PnR player. His wide body is perfect for picks and has a real nice looking jump shot. I think this isn't too unreasonable. Chances are that Brown Notes is right and Ty is developing him to be more of a post up player. Unfortunate because Favors and Kanter both have better tools as PnR players.
big turkey is still a good rebounder but since he lost weight and gained speed, he tries to prove a point in transition offense success, ending the fast breaks with dunks. if he maintained his position in all those fast breaks since the start of the season, he would have easily get more rebounds. one more important thing is, he and favors were always bumping into each other last season on rebounds, then obviously the man with the more leap got the ball in his hands, but still it would be harmful if they kept jumping to the same ball without control. I am guessing, tyrone corbin tried to solve this issue by giving favors the rebound and kanter the wing run. which is imo not right if you keep playing kanter at 5. he is a 4 right now and needs to train in that position. but in jazz'zzz big man rotation, who else would be center around kanter? favors is a great blocker but center needs bull physicalities.

EK should quit dreaming about playing "PF" in NBA.
He is a C for the Jazz and that is the only position he can play!

2) fine with me as long as he sets his mind to dunk the dang ball under the rim instead of pump faking which in the end he usually gets blocked or doubled or tripled. attempt the dunk at least, u'll have a good chance of getting fouled and u r a good free throw shooter. even tyson chandler told u to go right to the basket, told u u were strong as a bull. use it there too!
