Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't you repubs been bitching for years about either building a wall to "protect" us from Mexicans or requested more federal agents to protector our borders? All I know is that you folks have been bitching non-stop about Obama "failing" to protect our borders. I struggle to see how "protecting" our borders with either walls or troops is any less of a "police state" than placing a cop or troop in each of our schools.

Not to mention that it has been your ilk which started 2 unfunded wars and rammed the Pat Act down our throats.

More gun regulation, better security, more government intervention in health care or media, etc have all been suggested and thus far seem to have been all denied by yourself. So what exactly are your solutions? Because doing nothing obviously isn't going to help.

Which is essentially what the GOP has done with soooo many issues, merely kicked the can down the road and bitched all along the way. I still find it hilarious when you folks complain about Obamacare. You had the white house for 8 years and didn't do a damn thing to reform it.

I think one of the best ideas is one that you and a number of others here are going to hate. Depending on the size of the school, anywhere from 4 to a dozen teachers and staff should be well trained in the use of a particular firearm and allowed to keep them at school. The principal, vice principal, some of the teachers... whoever, as long as they pass a rigorous training and psychological course and are reevaluated yearly. Did you read the article I posted about mass shootings in the U.S.? In the last 62 years, only one mass shooting has not occurred in a "gun free zone". All others have taken place where the shooter had a reasonably good idea they would not face resistance, at least initially. The Aurora shooter chose a theater that specifically stated that firearms were not allowed on the premises and drove past at least half a dozen other theaters to terrorize this particular location.

I haven't read almost any of this thread, but the thought of almost any of my middle school or high school teachers carrying weapons is utterly terrifying.

Teaching is one of the most frustrating jobs you can have, and no offense but in large part its a job that seems to attract socially awkward people that don't seem to handle stressful situations all that well.

I don't think I went a week without one of my teachers absolutely freaking out and losing their **** in middle school/high school and had a couple teachers physically confront me.

No way teachers should be allowed to carry guns. That would be a disaster. Sorry if I'm missing some joke, I just popped in this thread.

You're not going to agree with it so why post it? The whole system needs an overhaul. From the amount of ammo these guns can carry, which guns are available for purchase, and the mental evaluations needed to obtain these weapons. It's pretty obvious that we cannot keep kicking the can down the road like the GOP has done for so long.

LOL. Of course. Free market can solve any and every ill. Just look at our wonderful health care system which doesn't spend twice as much as the #2 country and covers everyone... Just look at how costs have not skyrocketed since Reagan deregulated this industry.

As someone who has personal experience as an educator (and who has several close family and friends) all (myself included) are completely against this idea.

Are you really suggesting that the shooter, dressed up as the Joker (the previous villain in Batman) purposely sought after a "gun free" zone at his local theater to attack folks at the midnight showing of the final Batman movie? So had that place not been a gun-free zone that the "Joker" wouldn't have attacked there?
