Get this, having fun is addictive.
Get this, being a self-loathing douche is also habit forming.
Marijuana can be over-used and used in the wrong settings, just like almost every plant on earth. IMO, I think everybody should use it in some fashion, even if extraordinarily rarely.
As for other drugs:
I recommend shrooms at least once, but don't be one of those dudes that trips all the damn time. It is a poison. But try it on a camp trip. Fun.
Definitely try MDMA once with someone you love and in the right non-judgmental dancing/musical environment. Amazing time. Also be sure to clear your calendar for the following two days and just be with him/her during the come down (which can be a bitch). Don't make a habit out of this either, but try it once. There is a whole genre of music you'll have different access to.
Stay away from opiates and amphetamines.
None of this is a good idea if you are alone and depressed or in the company of wreckless douches. You can't separate drug use from the quality of your character and company. Don't fool yourself.
We are talking about weed, right?
Don't be a D.A.R.E generation knobface and refuse to have an adult conversation about what each individual drug actually is. Look into blood-brain toxicity and other issues and get back to me about what kind of person becomes addicted (i.e. can't emotionally and/or physically function) to weed.
Other drugs are different. For example after one use of Oxycodon and cocaine I felt a specific craving that stuck in my head for a bit. That took A LITTLE self control.
Nice take.
Marijuana can be psychologically addictive, like just about anything else (video games, porn, sports, gambling, taking badass ****s), but does not create a physical dependency (unlike more demonized [and deserving of that stigma] drugs), which can't actually be said of alcohol and prescription drugs of abuse.
I think it's lunacy that it's not legalized and regulated in a manner similar to alcohol.
Playing well is priority #1 and nothing outside of that is really even close. If you're hoping someone else ****s up, then you don't deserve the break.
Cept MDMA is an amphetamine? I agree with basically all of this, though things that come in pill form are simply something I try to avoid. Add benzodiazepines (valium, xanax, others) to the avoid list. ****, yeah, just avoid drugs that come in a pill form. Pretty safe advice (though I absolutely loved adderall the one time I took a little tiny bit as basically a measure that one might use an energy drink for, but by that virtue I was also a little scared by it).

Didn't say that. I wouldn't call them "poison" though, especially considering the stigma attached to that word. How many people consider aspirin "poison"? Psilocybin isn't particularly habit forming and is non-toxic (unless you plan to eat several pounds of mushrooms in a single sitting). Aside from the slim chance of winning the HPPD lottery, how are they a "poison"?
You're right about the connotations of the word, and right that I should avoid them in this context. But, yeah, wo doesn't like the occasional stiff handshake of a poison/potion? Haha!
I'm going to a big hot box on the evening of the 26th which is guaranteed to have California's very finest ... in copious amounts. Xmas spoiling.
