Well you have to hope that Gordon takes it as loyalty rather than hedging. After all, you're talking about a pretty substantial raise next year and guaranteeing him set for life without worrying about injuring himself next year as he auditions for a bigger contract.

But yea IMO you gotta extend this guy as early as possible same as Favs. I'd start with 9M for G and 11 for Favs. IMO those offers are not insulting.

Once Al is gone I see his pay scale going way up. I also hope he is put back into the starting lineup so he can at least get 30 min's consistently. I want him to have more reasons to stay loyal and can see him taking a little less to stay in Utah. But Foy consistently getting more minutes is so stupid!! TyCo needs to wake his ass up and realize Foye is nothing mor then a three point specialist playing 15-18 minutes a game.

FWIW, I picked the $9mm - $9.9mm option, although I wouldn't freak out over an extension a little over $10mm per. Nic Batum got about $11.5mm per year on his extension.

I don't think the Jazz front office would even blink at giving Hayward 12 mil. And I think he might be worth up to 14 mil. Much like Wes Matthews, Hayward may not be worth that amount early in his contract but I think he could grow into it.
The more Hayward has the ball in his hands, the more confidence he gets. Most importantly, he makes his teammates better.

That includes Gordon, and frankly Favors though he may get more due to his size.

Hate to be a downer, but if overall non star player salaries don't come down then the Jazz are in trouble because I guarantee that they won't be paying triple to the dollar luxury fees for a non championship team.

There is a good side to this because if they stay under the cap than the kickback from other teams will help a lot.

If the Jazz can sign useful players to reasonable contracts, they can always be moved when someone shows up or is available via trade to take their spot. The Harden trade is a perfect example of this (for both teams involved).
