SLTrib: Mo Williams says surgery repaired 'complete tear' in ligament

Mo Williams' surgery Friday was to repair a "complete tear" in his right thumb that was nearly identical to the injury he suffered in 2008 while with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The specifics of the injury Williams suffered on Dec. 22 in Miami were previously unknown, with the Jazz first listing the thumb as "severely sprained" and later amending the point guard's status to "right thumb surgery." He has missed eight games since injuring his thumb while defending a drive by Mario Chalmers. While Williams has commonly been said to be out a minimum of six weeks, the reality could be much harsher. He will have a pin removed from his thumb after six weeks, which is when "the rehab really starts," he said.

This could also mean we can resign him for cheaper next season saving money for Milsap and Al.....

I predict he's going to be gone a lot longer than the six weeks. If he is in a splint, it is going to take a lot of therapy to get the joint mobile and it is his shooting hand, so no big deal.

Jazz really need to push for Calderon or Lowry.

Hopefully they can move or release Raja Bell, in case they have to sign another PG. Are you allowed to sign 10-day contracts even if you have a full 15-man roster?

Does the NBA have an IR?

I just don't see the point in a stop-gap solution. Unless we're purposefully trying to get a worse pick in the draft.

They said last night on tv that it was 6 weeks to begin therapy, and it would take 4 to 6 weeks of therapy before he could play again = April. Now Corbin and the jazz have an excuse for failure.

So Burks will get extended minutes for at least six weeks.

Like it or not, and I don't mean this as a slight to Mo cuz I like him, but without Mo getting injured Burks is still sitting and we're (including Burks) all still furious

Why? They are not the long term answer so why bother?
Welcome aboard Snyder, Exum and Hood. Here is to hoping this season is more entertaining than the last 3.

Why? This does not fix the logjam at PF/C and it does nothing for the future of this team. Lowry is a stopgap (as Gyp said).
