Doner kebabs in Utah?

We've still got some Turkish posters here, right? I find myself craving doner kebabs... is there any place in Utah to get authentic ones? I suspect the answer is no, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Barring that, does anyone know of any gyro places that actually cook in the traditional style (shaving meat from a vertically rotating spit)? I had one once at a county fair a few years back, but aside from that all of my gyro experiences in Utah have been pretty bad (processed meat as opposed to real, shaved meat).

If you're really hard up then you could hit up the Mexican place in SLC that cuts pork and pineapple from a vertically rotating spit. Wierd combo for me but it's a chain so I guess people like it.

I don't think I ever had turkey. Come to think of it, I'm not sure what the meat was in the places I frequented in Germany. Some type of beef or lamb, I'd guess.

BTW, döner means "rotating" in Turkish.

They do "al Pastor" which apparently is the Mexican version of doner kebab:

I had the nachos and my buddy had a chimichanga, both "al pastor". It's not exactly what you're looking for, but I thought it was really good.

Well, if you can't find doner kebaps then I got a couple of mighty fine, devilish tips for you.

Tip 1: the middle eastern people other than the Turks love to eat doner kebap too. The difference being, it's called shawarma down there. So barring wee variations it is basically the same food. The devil even took his time and googled it for you; voila shawarma a.k.a. doner kebap in salt lake city:

Tip 2: Devil's moles informed him that one of the biggest doner kebap fans in the world, Memo Okur, used to still his cravings at a place called Atlantic Cafe Market. Although it is called Gyros down there, which is normally not authentic since Greek's meat of preference is pork, this one seems to be legit as it is made from lamb and beef.

Thanks to both of the last two posters! Jazzmanian devil's suggestions in particular seem helpful and I'll definitely try out some of those restaurants next time I'm in SLC (I live in Utah County).
