Has anyone been to this in Cancun? I am going to a wedding down there next month and wanted to check it out. How deep are the sculptures? Trying to decide between snorkeling/free diving and scuba.

"How does the defendant plead?" "Not Guilty, your BONGO."
So you're scuba diving with the hopes of seeing a bunch of stone chicks with National Geographic boobies at the bottom?
Are the sculptures old or have any historical significance?
i just google searched it. there are some really cool ones. id scuba dive there is a ot to see.
Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them.

Ya before i went to cancuun i read about this place and it seems like you should definately scuba instead of snorkel due to the depth.
It's a new installation to attract visitors from damaged reefs. The sculptures and configuration are also engineered to attract fish and coral and create an artificial reef. I just read that it's 30' down which would be fun free diving, but it looks like there is a lot to see so maybe scuba would be the way to go.
I've been there. They're about 40' down, iirc.
Worthwhile visiting Xel-ha / Tulum as well..
I much prefer going down there than just staying in Cancun .. but I'm more into adventure than just (Only) checking out girls and getting drunk.

I went to xel-ha as well and loved it..... in fact i liked xel-ha so much that i would reccommend that you do not do the xel-ha/tulum combination because you wont have enough time to do everything xel-ha has to offer if you spend the first part of the day at tulum.
If you do them both, then do them on different days.
Thanks guys- don't have much free time down there with wedding festivities and all, but was thinking that dinner in Playa delCarmen would be nice. Should be an perfect escape from the freezing weather here in Michigan.
