Lightbulb Cherry □ Lime__ Thought provoking trade idea

    So here is the theory.....

Dwight Howard is unhappy in L.A.

Brooklyn still might be thinking they could go after him this summer. But they would have to clear salaries. Only way they can do that is if they trade away Brook or Humphries, or both. Not sure how much they need cleared, probably both.

So here is an idea of what they could do. Its just an example. Maybe one of you Dicks can do better with some other teams.

Its a huge risk for Brooklyn but they are risk takers.

    4 team trade.

Cleveland sends Luke Walton and Daniel Gibson to Brooklyn because their salaries total about 10 million and are one year deals. Cleveland receives Brook Lopez. Cleveland also sends a pick or two to Utah and maybe one to Brooklyn. They are loaded with picks, so they can be big spenders.

Brooklyn receives Luke Walton, Daniel Gibson, Paul Millsap, and Sagana Diop and maybe a pick from Cleveland. All the players are on one year deals. Which comes out be about 25 million in cap space cleared to sign Dwight Howard. I'm not sure how it all works, but maybe they can sign Millsap too, so they have D12 and Millsap. If the D12 thing doesn't go through, then at least Brooklyn can fall back on signing Millsap. I'm sure he would sign there.

Charlotte recieves Humphries for basically Diop. Maybe Brooklyn has to throw in a future pick to get them to do it. Not sure how they feel about Diop and Humphries. I'm assuming Humphries must have some value. He isn't terrible.

Utah sends out Millsap and recieves a couple first round picks from Cleveland. Hopefully really good ones.

Brooklyn is just one team that we could be trade partners for to help clear space for this years possible D12 sweepstakes. Maybe someone like Atlanta or Dallas might be possible players as well. Dallas already has money coming off the books but it might not be enough.

Its not perfect, but I bet Brooklyn is studying it and trying to figure out how they could do it. I wouldn't bee surprised if a big 5-6 team trade goes down at the deadline.

If none of that works for you then maybe we could do a straight up deal with Cleveland. I want some of their picks and they want to spend them.

I was actually thinking about starting a thread today on this. Dwight wants to play with CP3. They can afford both, Griffin, Crawford and some of their bench if they give KOC DeAndre, Butler and Bledsoe this offseason in exchange for the Jazz' picks.

Dwight and CP3 would have to commit right before this move is made. LAC might be able to get a better return elsewhere though, and wouldn't have to give up Bledsoe to clear the cap space.

They could rebuild their bench with the MLE and trading low pay players with draft picks for solid vets.

CP3 , Dwight and blake would be pretty nasty. I get the feeling though that Dwight will probably want to get far way from L.A. though. On the other hand maybe all of L.A. switches to being Clipper fans.

BTW, Hack, Brooklyn has just over $50mm in Johnson, DWill, and Wallace next season. They'd have to clear one of these in addition to your idea in order to clear enough space. Howard would have to demand a S&T there for Lopez, etc. and LA would have to bow down to him or get nothing back.

I'm going to admit, I have no decent trade ideas. I think we should trade out Alsap, drop in the standings and get a real talent in the draft.

I wouldn't mind Calderon and wouldn't even mind Ramon Sessions as a rotation PG in the meantime.

Otherwise, I'd rather pick up young talent. All the players out there in trade talks are kind of blah.

We need to get Pierce in a swap for Millsap and Marv.
Everyone on the team expires, we got space to sign Teague, a few good roleplayers.

Let Pierce expire next year, pick up more pieces.

A trade is going to happen by deadline. Too many trade pieces, and so much cap space next year. Paul Pierce is the perfect person to trade for.

Little Bunny Foo Foo that will cost you two draft chances and turn you into a fifth seed goon.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=arw959f

    Lakers:
    In: Bargnani, Calderon, Bell
    Out: Gasol, Blake, Hill

    Raptors:
    In: Jefferson, Blake, Hill
    Out: Bargnani, Calderon

    Celtics:
    In: Millsap, Mo Williams, Foye
    Out: Rondo, Lee, Sullinger, Collins

    Jazz:
In: Gasol, Rondo, Lee, Sullinger, Collins
Out: Jefferson, Millsap, Mo Williams, Foye, Bell

I think this trade could actually work.
It might require some picks to shuffle around, especially to Toronto and maybe LA. I would just like to be able to get a PG in the 1st round this year. LA has hurt Gasol's value and with this trade this get some people to better fit D'Antoni's system and save money. If they pick up a first this year, it will look good to the fan base as well.
Toronto wants something for Calderon and wants out of Bargnani's contract. I'm not sure they really want Jefferson, but I'm not sure what other value they can get. They also get a nice back up in Blake and a young big in Hill. Maybe get them a 1st and they will be more inclined.
Boston gets a lot of depth and help for this year's playoffs. All players are on expirings so they can try the market this summer. It does cost them Sullinger though.
I have my doubts about the Jazz making this big of a move, but they get some real value in return for some expiring deals. Thoughts?

    So, it is personal, eh?

In no universe is that trade balanced or worth discussing. Just hand them a bag of chips for Rondo and you're closer to a deal.

Foye and Bell are not trade chips. Nobody wants them.

    ....and....I'm spent.
