    Voluntary Castration?

    Looks like Germany is getting some heat for offering sex offenders the option of castration. It's not like they are forcing it on these guys.

    I think the US should adopt something like this... maybe even less of an option for repeat offenders.

    Why would any criminal even consider this unless there was a significant reduction in his sentence? Removing 1-2 years is not significant enough either.

    I imagine that is the only reason anyone would do it. I doubt the courts would reduce any sentences. If you're an alcoholic, are addicted to a drug of some kind, or have some other addiction that you can't break on your own -- and it's constantly causing heart ache, sorrow, and poor quality of life for you and those around you, then why wouldn't you take any step available to you? I think this is a terrific idea. I also think it's a Gordon Damn shame that it will never even be discussed in the U.S. for some reason. Stupid republicans.

    I remember a few years ago in South Carolina they tried to institute the death penalty for repeat sex offenders or heinous sex crimes. For some reason it got shut down. Don't know why Germany would take heat over this, it may be a viable solution to prevent future victims.
