What's new

KSL - Jazz must add a point guard — and fast

agreed. Been saying the same thing.
I think there are very few who haven't.
When Exum got hurt damn near everyone wanted a new point guard

he says more than that. His opinions about Burke in his current role, for example, are exactly how I feel/what I've been saying.

Cheers.

Do we trade Exum?

If we are going to splash max dollars this offseason, do we wanna do it on a PG, or maybe a 3/4 who can defend and hit threes?

Burke is playing like a top-5 backup in the NBA right now. You don't trade him, not on the contract he's on.

I say 10 games is still early. Let's hang around until the all-star break. If Memphis is imploding, lets snipe Conley (which is what I've said all along)

This year is still the year to develop, IMO. That is our main priority. If the opportunity comes to improve this team of course we should jump at it-- but we shouldn't place ourselves in the mindset of preparing for a BIG run this year specifically. Let's set this team up for the biggest run in the near future. 2017 season seems like the perfect time IMO. Hayward's contract year. We go all the **** in. Hayward has improved his SF defense, and now gets help on offense. We sign a good backup-4 if Lyles is still slow to develop. Sign a PG if Exum & Burke aren't cutting it. Sign a backup-5 that's better than Withey and Pleiss, or just pray that Pleiss learns NBA basketball.

There's your recipe for next year.

We don't trade Exum. I still see a very high ceiling that's nowhere near realized.

I'd still take George Hill. He could play alongside Exum. A bench of Hood, Burke, and Burks would destroy.

When Larry Bird realizes he's rushed his team into mediocrity, I'd be there with the right package for George.

Wait, did people say PG or triple wing?

Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk

Most said triple wing IIRC. Neal, Middleton, Carroll, Harris were names that came up.

I said Burks should only play 10 minutes at PG a night on average which seems to be whats been happening.

Must? Really? I disagree 100%. We have a PG, unfortunately he is injured. This team is still in the development phase, not the "go for it all" phase. "Must" would only come in if this team was in its prime.

Calm down, relax, this is a multi-year process, not something that has to happen tomorrow. Think long term.

There are plenty of reasons to think that by missing this year Exum has put himself on a developmental trajectory that isn't optimal for the rest of the pieces on this team. With that in mind, since Exum can play both guard spots, we can acquire a PG and that won't signal the end of our commitment to Exum or his dreamed-of role. It simply gives us flexibility and a better chance of winning now + in the future.
