Stein: Utah is telling teams Hayward is unavailable.

Hayward for Brandon Knight and Jamal Murray. You ****ing knobs.

Duh, Jazz are not trading Hayward for a pick right now. He is our best player on a team that is quickly on the rise and expected to make the playoffs by everyone in the league next year. There is no reason to trade him now. If we need to trade him in the future for cap reasons or a player breaks out and we need to, for some reason, make room for him we can trade him in the future even with his max contract.

ESPN sources say that the Celtics, so far, have been stifled in their attempts to turn the No. 3 pick into an established veteran via trade.

Story going online details Boston's thwarted attempts to trade for Jimmy Butler, Gordon Hayward or either Jabari Parker or Khris Middleton.

Utah, sources say, is telling interested teams Gordon Hayward is unavailable. Ditto for Milwaukee with Jabari Parker and Khris Middleton.
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) June 22, 2016 ... Good.

... Good.

Do you think teams caller ID Ainge and send it to voicemail? This crap is just insulting. "Way to pick up a crap ton of picks in a weak draft Danny Boy, let us go ahead and bail you out.!" Parker was a top pick in a good draft, why would they downgrade the pick in a crappy draft?

Even though every player in the NBA can possibly be traded there is never any reason to devalue a player by making him "available"

and you can say names, but what say it when hayward leave jazz? I'm not scared, just real about ituation for jazz this scenario is likely and if not you are ok jazz alway 1st round fodder? not me but maybe for you!

Devin Booker will be an elite talent in the league. Let's trade Hayward and 12 for Booker and Phx next year 1st round pick.

I want to ask an honest question to those who have no desire to trade Hayward -

If Boston were to offer it, would you trade him for Avery Bradley, #3 and #23?

First of all, without us knowing what exactly was offered, we are really not in a position to evaluate whether the Jazz have made the right move to unequivocally keep Hayward, which is what the article basically says. But what if it were all of Boston's Brooklyn picks, including the #3 this year and two more in the next two years? What if it were the #3 this year, Avery Bradley, and Jae Crowder? The list could go on and on. Are we really willing to say that regardless of the offer, we should keep Hayward? Because that's very different than DL spurning just the #3 pick.

But even still, the issue is not as much what was offered, as it is whether Hayward will even be here in one year. Guys -- Dirk Nowitzki just opted out of his contract. This new salary cap is making players do all kinds of things. Whether or not Hayward is one of the best small forwards in the league (he is) is also moot, if he ups and leaves town next year as an unrestricted free agent. Is he definitely going to do that, as opposed to re-signing with the Jazz, who are now showing their loyalty to him, and have consistently since they drafted him? Only time will tell.

But let's not confuse the issue here. The reason the Jazz should listen to offers is not because of his value to us or who's available at #3 this year. It's because of how next summer might go.

Dirk didn't opt out to leave. He's been pretty vocal about saying how he's given them discounts, but if they don't put a good team around him this year, he wants more money, but he wants it from Dallas.

No. That's not a good deal, and I love Bradley.

TBH I don't agree with just shutting it down right out of the gate as this implies.

Hear them out and see what they offer. No one should ever be unavailable if it makes the team better. It is unlikely a Hayward trade makes us better but you should at least be checking.

Also I am very happy with Hayward and glad he will be here next season. hell of a player.

If you don't know if Gordon is leaving, I like the move to hold onto him and be confident in your team's appeal in order to extend him.
If you trade him away one year before the contract is up, you're basically telling the rest of the team you're not confident in your team's ability to compete for unrestricted free agents. Which will make others think if the team is ever gonna be a contender, as management will flip stars for assets whenever a contract year is coming.

If he's indicated he's leaving anyways, you trade him and communicate it like this to the team. Not to the fanbase. Someone in the team is gonna talk anyways to the media/fanbase about Gordon being unhappy.

A lot of pressure on Exum's shoulders now if no other playmaker is signing a contract in free agency.

Did he tell you this? Not to be a jerk, but you simply don't know that. However, I get the same impression and I don't think Dirk will leave Dallas.

Having said that, if he is doing this to leverage the Mavs to go all in this offseason and they don't, will he leave? I do think that's a possibility, given that GS has already expressed interest. If GS can't get Durant, I imagine they will go after Dirk aggressively. And if they do, there's no way he stays in Dallas, IMO.
