2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Porter is an all around player. Sure he is overpaid, but our history is shown that we have a hard time finding good wings in free agency.

He would be a gamble, but he is no more of a gamble at $26 million than Favors and Exum were this summer at $27 million.

Mitchell, Ingles, Porter and Gobert are 4 great players who would play well off each other. Put a solid PG with them, and they could be great.

it wouldnt take a lot to get Porter Jr because the Wiz are a little desperate to dump his salary. Porter is at 26 mil so that is what the Jazz would need to come up with the get him.

Favors + Exum would work for Porter Jr and one of Oubre, Green, Satoransky or even Dekker (What a disappointment he has been)

I've been a Porter fan for a while. I know a few of us talked about him last season. At this point I tend to not mention him because it's depressing as I want him on the Jazz. I would trade Favors and Exum for him and someone else without hesitation.

I think the Wiz are really high on Oubre and wouldn't move him in that deal (it'd be great but I don't see it happening). I would love to have Satoransky on this team. If we could get Satoransky and Porter for Favors and Exum I would be ecstatic.

Otto Porter is good. Question is whether he's good enough or if we can feature him in a way that makes him better. He's basically the gist of what we need though, a 6'8", 2-way forward with ball skills.

How good a scorer is Porter in isolation?

He's not an Iso guy. I think we could make him a super role player. He'd get better looks in our offense but I think he could be an athletic version of what Joe Ingles gives us. Doesn't have the passing acumen but he could take the pf minutes and be okay on that end. I need to watch him more, but some experts have mentioned he doesn't defend the bigger, stronger wings like you'd hope.

I think we need a bit more that what he can provide, but he'd be a good start in addressing our needs... we'd still need more playmaking and creation somewhere.

Call me crazy but I think Randle is a better fit than Mirotic now. Mirotic just a spot up shooter(a better Jerebko), Randle does everything else better. Ball handler and assists guy now playing smart.

Randle is a budding beast. He absolutely has it all on the offensive end plus is an average defender. Starting to look like Larry Johnson.

Last year I kinda wrote him off as good stats on a bad team type of guy. If you go small on him he murders you on the glass. If his shooting ever got consistently good he might be an all-star. Dude is just so explosive. I'm also partial to guys that clearly work and get better... he's done that. His defense is an issue though.

Maybe he's the guy we get if we miss on the Middleton, Harris, etc.

I do wonder if we have gauged the trade market on Exum. Him losing his minutes to Neto seems a bit short-sighted if he is a key part of our future thinking. If we a good idea that Phoenix or Orlando will send an expiring in January for him then maybe we are keeping him in bubble wrap until he is trade eligible.

I seem to remember Locke saying several times last year that not everyone in the Jazz organization is so rosy on Dante's potential. I suspect that came from Igor, since the two of them used to do their daily coffee deal, and DL/QS have spoken out about believing in Exum. I'm probably just manufacturing nonsense here, but it makes me less inclined to think the Suns would have an interest in Exum.

Even if it isn't true I like the tea leave reading you did there.

I have a feeling, and maybe it's just a hopeful feeling, that we are playing Rubio so much because we might trade him. Our offense does run better with him, but I don't think our FO is fully committed to him long term. More so, when Rubio plays great, like yesterday, we usually don't win. We have to get better and that will come at the expense of either Favors or Rubio. I highly, highly doubt we would do anything with Favors. He would have to ask for a move to be moved.

Side Note: Houston will pay $106 million to just 3 players in 2022

It is becoming pretty obvious that Houston needs to find a trade, any trade to get a good player. They have zero cap space for the next 4 years. I'm really curious to see who Morey will target in the coming weeks. I would not be shocked if Houston throws numerous 1st rounders at Washington for Otto Porter. If they offered 4 for expiring Butler, I would imagine it would be 2 for Otto.

I heard JR Smith, which would be doubling down on the dumbass off-season decisions that got them into this mess.
