What's new

D.O.N Issue #1

I know a lot of guys share your feeling here. I play with some dudes that are rolling and you'd think they sneakers are the same ones they used in HS.

I play a lot so it's worth it in my mind. Feet/Shoes are important.

Mine aren’t old. They’re just absolutely fine for playing ball in imo.

Looks like he already signed a new deal with Adidas. Also saw this on twitter. There appears to be a black and silver version, and it said these will be around $100. You can see the other shoe in the background here.

Saw a tweet that they will be under $100... that'd be cool.

"SPIDA 1s" is a huge miss by adidas marketing.
I feel like maybe it’s because it was the name fans came up with in advance of release and they didn’t want to go with exactly what fans had already slated them as. Someone on twitter mentioned maybe Adidas didn’t want to get anywhere close to getting in trouble with Marvel over coming too close to spider-man. Either way. Spida-1’s is much more catchy than DON Issue 1’s. Love the shoe for the most part though, and I really don’t like Adidas shoes very often but I like his. They’re simply and not over the top.

“People shouldn’t worry about (being able to afford them),” Mitchell said. “People will be satisfied with where they are. I’m not big on crazy expensive shoes. You can cancel that out right now. That’s not me. I can tell you that right now. That’s not who I am about. My message being for kids, I want kids to have the shoes.”

I sprained my ankle just thinking about playing in running shoes.
This.
In my younger days I was quite good. Like low level college player good. Playing ball constantly. I spent a decent amount of time on crutches though. Then I finally spent some money on some really good ankle braces. Still had some ankle injuries but only cause I didn't always have my braces with me when I came across a game.
Never did have an injury while wearing them and hightops though.

Maybe, like others said, there is probably some copyright issues. Going with the whole "D.O.N." thing gives them the motivational story angle and they are still doing a nod to the Spiderman thing by naming the line like a comic book series.

I’ve done it my whole life and never had one issue.
What kind of running shoes are you playing in? Most running shoes arent reinforced well in the high stress areas that come with playing basketball. I use to play in pair of Asics and I ripped a whole through them in a month. And traction is a huge issue if you arent playing on a good court.

Big miss by Adidas not naming these the Spida 1s.

They're always 1 step behind Nike in marketing.

Asics. Not racing shoes. Training shoes. The only thing that ever happened to mine was my left shoe would develop a small hole where the big toe is over time. A year, give or take. Because when I took off of one foot, I slightly dragged the toe I guess.
