What's new

Start Mitchell at the Point.

Tbh, I think Exum has shown enough for the FO and coaching staff to have breathed sigh of relief and can hope he continues to build on some solid form moving forward. I think he can be a very useful bench piece moving forward, if it is deemed Mitchell should run the show from the pg position.

Exum is a potentially great option attacking in the latter part of quarters when teams reach the foul limits and he seems to be getting better at short sharp stints.

I just can't see Rubio as being a spark plug bench guy. I think he is still a starter somewhere.

Mitchell has enough to learn/develop/carry right now without adding PG duties to his plate. I bet he ends up developing into a good PG, but that he will always benefit from having someone else take on that burden (similar to Harden).

Really? Why do you think that?

Because he'd probably want a good multi-year contract, and we have Mitchell and Exum at that position. It makes little sense to resign Rubio. I bet they pick up the option on Favors, and roll with Mitchell + Exum. We don't have to assets to trade for a star, nor the market appeal for a top FA. So most likely we sign another MLE-level wing or something.

I agree with you. Especially on the keeping DM/Exum and not needing Rubio. And you are probably right in what you are predicting about Favors (keeping him because we don't get a better option).

Good post.

I wouldn’t be so sure about Rubio wanting a contract that the Jazz couldn’t afford, he loves it here.

I wouldn't mind Ricky on a really team friendly deal... but then I think they'd need to find a new home for Exum. We need some variance in the wing/guard spot and they share some similar flaws.

I'm straight 50/50 on whether I think Ricky is back next year... the next couple weeks while he is out may give us some pause or confidence depending on how the team does.

Whether Ricky re-signs or not is mainly dependent on whether he accepts a backup role going forward, and to a lesser degree how X develops.

Guys, watching Donovan dismantling teams without having to hand the ball to Rubio these past few games have been some of the funnest Jazz basketball I've ever witness.

I dunno what Quin/Lindsey are gonna do next year, but these games have been GOLD.

I think I can die a happy man now.

It has been nice. It also helps that its been 3 crappy teams.
