2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Dsj must have an attitude problem.

I wonder what they get. If you didn’t feel DM was a pg I would think you’d be interested. I’m somewhat intrigued but not sure why they are in such a hurry to offload him.

I think it's fit plus attitude. Dallas must know that DSJ expects to start yet they know he does not fit next to Doncic. If DSJ doesn't get to start, his attitude might hurt the team.

I think Dallas is brilliant to trade him now. They know it doesn't work and want to cut bait early. They gotta build it all offensively around Doncic like we need to build it all offensively around Donovan.

Might be brilliant to move him, but the way they are doing it is short sighted... I think he's a fine fit next to Doncic and could become a pretty damn good player. I think this is Carlisle not getting along with yet another pg.

They don't have much leverage now... They might get lucky and maybe orlando parts with Isaac, but I don't see phoenix, orlando, etc. ponying up a pick unless its lotto protected.

DSJ has some upside... he's got some offball value. If you think DM isn't a pg it might be a fit. DSJ for our top 10 protected pick? Ricky and our pick for Wes and DSJ? Dante/Thabo for DSJ and Wes?

If we got him I'd kinda want to be out of the Dante business. I don't really want him, but I think they way they've played it he will go for a discount and I like getting talent on the cheap.

I just don't think DSJ is the type guy to play off a ball dominant PG like Doncic. His upside is having the ball in his hands and creating. He won't ever get that chance in Dallas now.

To me, DSJ reminds me of a better version of a Reggie Jackson or poor man's Lillard down the road. Great offense, PG lead scorer, average defense. I don't think that fits next to Doncic or Donovan at all.

Orlando is absolutely perfect for DSJ because they have the shooter in Fournier, an all purpose wing Gordon who is better off the ball, a future spot up shooter in Isaac, and a future rim protector in Bamba.

I think something like Vucevic and Ross for Smith Jr and Matthews works for both teams.

Count me intrigued by DSJ. Has a lot of untapped potential.

He might suck... but if you think we need a pg next to DM... he's big and a good spot up 3 pt. shooter. PGs generally don't figure things out until 3rd year. I'm not super duper intrigued, but I'd make a call if I was DL.

Dallas will want something with future value. They have a billion dollars in FA space, so expirings are pretty meh.

They've always been big on international guys, and Cuban says they need more guys from Slovenia, and here we've got the rights to a guy from the country that shares Slovenia's largest border.

Ross and Vucevic could fit next to Doncic absolutely perfectly. If they can keep them long term, it's a perfect trade for Dallas.

I see what you are saying though. Maybe Orlando takes back a bad contract like Powell or sends a couple 2nd rounders.

Saw Detroit was interested. Could see them moving a first for him. I think they either get a first or a good young player, but I'm not sure why they are playing this like they are. Maybe they thought they'd get an auction like effect.

Detroit would be another great place for him. If they could get him without sending Stanley or Kennard, they could be decent.

My recollection of a JazzAvenues thread was he has a low b-ball in and/or bad shot selection.

DSJ is destined to become a John Wall on a Wizards-type franchise that is destined to be blown apart every five years because the dude wan't all the cookies in the jar and all the accolades. No way do I want him paired with Mitchell.

Justin Holiday is 4-25 and 0-11 from 3 since joining Memphis. Definitely thought he could be an O'Neale upgrade (especially offensively) but looks like he is having trouble in a more structured system. I think we do need some bench help, but that probably is more glaring since all our PGs went down

Stanley and a first. I think they will require a first... to help ease the blow of the one they gave to Atlanta.

Yeah, it will be very interesting to see what Memphis does both on and off the court the next few weeks. If they end up in the bottom 8, they keep their 1st rounder but give up their unprotected 1st rounder later on. Gasol is potentially an expiring.
