What's new

Maker

An athletic stretch big who is quick on his feet and can switch on to guard multiple positions. Of course he isn't perfect but won't be available to us if he is.

What does he do? I’m not that familiar with him other than hearing his name a lot over the years. And he looked good when we initially played them. But even his per 36 stats nothing really stands out. Shoots the three ball better than Favors, but that’s not saying much.

He only makes some sense for the Jazz if Favors is on the move and they don't trust Udoh at backup 5, and even then depending on what Milwaukee want back for him there are likely better alternatives available in FA

If we are trading Favors, then perhaps Milwaukee will participate in a three team trade.

Next year he makes $5.6, then he is restricted the following summer. This is the perfect time to get him if we can.

There is no actual replacement of Favors. If you want what Favors offers at the 4, you keep him. If you want a stretch, you trade him.

Maker is more of an upgrade on Udoh. The primary trade is to get a 4 that can shoot 3s.

Thon Maker would be a HUGE downgrade from Favors. If we're replacing Favs we need to set our sights a whole lot higher.
well, can Favs switch on to guard 1-5 like what Maker did against Tatum, Rozier and Horford, while shooting a respectable % from 3? Favs has been good but Maker clearly has his own strengths that's worth a look at

Agreed. Bucks fans seem to say he’s bad on D and makes bad decisions. If he comes super cheap, like expiring and a second rounder, sure try him out.

I think it would be really smart to pick up a cheap backup C to go with Udoh-if Favors or Gobert go down for an extended period we’re screwed.

over the course of their 3 yr career so far, Maker is actually shooting at a better % from deep(86 out of 256, 33%) than Niang(25 out of 78, 32%), who's supposed to be one of the better shooters on this team.

his effort comes and goes. but the tools are definitely there. A super long/athletic big man who is also quick on his feet. It's definitely worth a shot for a defensive oriented team like us

The only reason to bring in Maker is if we move Favors in a bigger trade. Clearly he wouldn't be replacing Favors' as our PF. He would be replacing Favors as our primary backup to Gobert. If we pursue a guy like Tobias Harris or Otto Porter I could see us looking into Maker. Otherwise he still wouldn't be getting minutes with us so it would be pointless.
