2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I think that this recent Clippers 3 game win streak along with the slides by Memphis, NOLA, Sacramento and the Lakers has firmed up Clippers' resolve to fight for the playoffs.

I think the Tobias Harris dream is officially over. Getting him in free agency ain't gonna happen. Our only chance was a trade or a bad Clipper experience this year.

Jerry West and Steve Ballmer have bigger goals than making the playoffs this year. They are focused on building a championship team. If they find a trade they they believe puts them in a better position to build a champion at the risk of possibly missing the playoffs this year, I think they do that trade. They know they aren't winning anything this year.

I agree that they have bigger goals than making the playoffs this year, but making the playoffs over their building rival Lakers could be a big part of a sales pitch this summer.

I could see them maybe trading Gallinari because of his contract, but I just don't see them trading Tobias. The only chance we had was if the Clippers had kept losing instead of going on this recent 3 game winning streak. If they were a couple games behind the Lakers when LeBron came back, maybe they consider a trade offer for Tobias at the deadline. Instead, they are two games ahead of the Lakers which means they will be even at worst at the deadline.

My prediction was that AD would be traded by the deadline. So you're saying there's a chance.....

Trading AD to the celtics actually makes sense in both sides. Celtics can offer the most out of anyone honestly. I'd love to see Gordon in a pelicans uniform

Boston can't trade for AD because they already traded for Kyrie (Rose Rule). So unless Boston uses Kyrie to get AD, Boston is out until the summer.

AD wants LA. NOLA and the Lakers just need to make this happen ASAP so NOLA can do more moves prior to the deadline. If I'm NOLA, I demand a package of Kuzma, Lonzo, Ingram, KCP and LA's 2019 1st.

NO will screw this up... don’t know exactly how but they will.

The timing (especially with the announcement coming from LeBron's buddy Rich Paul) tells me AD wants LA. NOLA has to get the following, and then nobody can blame them:

- Kuzma
- Lonzo
- Ingram
- KCP (expiring)
- LA's 2019 1st rounder

If they get that, I think NOLA comes out pretty well considering the guy is demanding a trade. I personally trade Ingram and KCP for more assets if I'm NOLA. If they can come out of this with Lonzo, Kuzma and 3 or 4 1st round picks (theirs and ones they acquire, I think they did okay.

I mean Paul is his agent. I think philly ends up throwing Ben on the table and that is the best offer.

If Ben Simmons and picks are on the table, that could be tempting.

I just have a feeling that Ben Simmons would be exposed as the overrated player he is if he played in the West without guys as good as Embiid, Butler and Reddick. And I think Simmons would be upset if he got traded to NOLA (but he did go to LSU). But he is still a better player than anybody LA can offer.

Just saw a note... Ben is also represented by Klutch... so doubt he gets traded to NO unless he wants to be.

I wonder if Boston would trade Kyrie in an AD deal. Would have to be a three team deal... I wonder if anyone would pony up the assets needed.

How is AD and Embiid going to play together?
That seems very difficult

AD is a better shooter than Ben... better defender too... won’t need the ball as much either.

This is also a slight shot at Boston by AD... Wojs piece seems to indicate he wanted to get it out now before Boston can make an offer.

Neither BOS nor LAL have the pieces to make it work.
BOS's $30m dudes Horford and Hayward have negative trade value. No Kyrie. No real star or top-5 pick. Only Tatum has some value but it's not enough.
LAL's youth is miserable. A dozen of them won't be enough.

On the other hand a deal centered around PHO's pick makes perfect sense for both sides.
That being said it's unlikely NOP will trade AD now. They may replace the coach and go all in for a deep postseason run and hence improve their chances of resigning AD in the offseason. If they can't then they'll start listening to offers.
