2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I don't think I'm crazy for liking this but I think most will think it's awful. I want the Jazz to trade for Blake Griffin. He is another guy who can create his own shot and his 3 is at 36% now. I had mentioned on another forum, that I wish they went after him. I know he's expensive. Am I crazy for thinking he, Mitchell, and Gobert could be a great trio? Is his style just not a winning style? I know the Clips couldnt get anywhere with him and CP, but who's fault was that?

Go get Blake in the offseason?

Sincere question: what does Rubio bring to this team that is irreplaceable? His 33% from the three? His three free throw attempts? 6 assist? 12 points? His 2-1 assist to turnovers ratio?

I mean the guys is a class act and as far as character is everything you want in a guy. But as far as being a basketball player I don't see anything that leads me to believe he's anything but average and a weak link.
I'm sure DL believes he is replaceable

I'd definitely be open to it, he'd be an amazing fit here. The contract is really, really bad though. $35-38M per year for 3 years.

I'm officially cool with no deal... got all excited on Conley for a minute. Do something in free agency... ain't no one winning the title this year... keep building.

We have to hit on a pick or two to make this work and get to championship level.

Due to the confidence that the Jazz have in Dante i think that when he is healthy they should put Dante as a starter and play 30-35 min. It´s clear you don´t want to be a mediocre team 5-8 R.S and first round or second as a miracle, and with Ricky that is the furthest goal ( as you always say). So if you want to develope Dante , i think that´s the next step

That's something I find curious. Jazz FO so high on Exum they won't include him on a deal, yet he doesn't start, gets back up minutes, doesn't play in crunch time, looks completely lost at times, and is frequently in the coach's doghouse. At some point, they gotta take off his leash and let him develop with confidence that he won't be yanked first mistake he makes. I mean, both FO and coach show relatively little faith in him on court, but won't start him, won't play him big minutes, but refuse to trade him.

From where I sit, either trade him or play him and see if he can reach his potential. This middle ground approach does not seem to be working.

Yeah, it definitely means you're all in on those three being your team. I think that could be fun to play with the pieces around that and try to make something happen. I wonder what it would take to get him and what direction Pistons want to go. Are they the Memphis of the East? Treadmill, everyone knows it, but still do nothing to change it up?

Its tougher to find leverage for free agents when cap-space is your only advantage and half the league has the same amount as you, with less cultural stigma. We had a little bit of specific advantage with assets of expiring Rubio and Favors, a young piece in Exum, and pick(s) for trades. We have to rely on appeal for FA since many teams have cap room, which doesnt lend me much confidence.

I mean I think the Jazz coaching staff probably knows more about Exum htan anyone on Earth, save his mother. They established his value and the Jazz FO acted on it. I suspect that Favors might have been a sticking point as well. All the Memphis leaks had Favors in the deal.

At least the Pels slapped Lakers in the face, and Celtics path just got alot harder I guess those are the positives I can see right now

I'm all for sticking the metaphorical finger at the Lakers. Here's to many, many years or continued irrelevance (despite being on TNT/ESPN on a weekly basis, regardless how bad they are.)

To add insult to injury, D-Russ, the guy Lakers and Magic dumped for Lonzo, is thriving in Brooklyn, while Lonzo is a dud who will probably never be worthy of his second pick status and is fated to spend the rest of his Lakers career as trade bait.

I hate the Lakers, and I take pleasure in their suffering.
