Hayward's Woes

More goodies from RealGM:

Danny Ainge has created a cutthroat, rather thankless environment that does not engender trust or loyalty from the front office but expects the players to sacrifice everything for the organization. The perfect example is the handling of Isaiah Thomas -- for the 2016-17 season, he was fifth in MVP voting, second team all-NBA, led the Celtics to the first seed in the East and the Eastern Conference finals while playing despite his sister dying in an automobile accident, needing dental surgery and suffering a now-debilitating hip injury during that playoff run.

What was Thomas' reward for helping the Celtics overachieve and succeed? Getting traded.

Moreover, Ainge has shown that he looks at the players and drafted and developed by Celtics as rather disposable and largely rewards the players who come from other organizations. The three highest-paid players (Gordon Hayward, Al Horford and Kyrie Irving) came via free agency or trade. Despite spending two top three picks in consecutive drafts on small forwards, the Celtics sign another small forward (Hayward) to a $30 million-per-year contract because he was Brad Stevens' top player in college. Now playing the still-recovering Hayward is problematic as he has to get minutes to justify his contract, at the expense of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

Of course, players such as Brown and Terry Rozier are going to be resentful. In any organization, there is going to be friction if an employer passes over an employee who played a major role in the organization (Brown, Rozier) in favor of hiring a new employee (Hayward, Irving) who gets more reputation and corporate leverage. Brown and Rozier see this situation as, "We were two of main reasons we went to Game 7 of the 2018 Eastern Conference finals, yet all we see are 'Wait 'til Kyrie and Gordon come back' -- two guys who didn't even play in the playoffs -- and our names in trade rumors."

I’m sure ijazz must be on some Celtics forum talking about how classless they are as fans for their booing.

I am from Indy and a Butler fan so when Hayward was drafted by the Jazz I became a Jazz Fan,
I literally have watch EVERY Jazz game Hayward played thanks to NBA LP.
Few things are consistent.
1. Hayward looks checked out though he is not
2. Not a huge emotional guy.
3. Even when Healthy ALWAYS starts the season slow and literally ramps up month over month.
4. Very unselfish, at times too unselfish IMO but I think that is why guys like playing with him.
5. Next thing you know his stats are awesome and you didn't even notice it.
Now the Celtics are WAAAAY more talented than the Jazz so it will be interesting to see if Hayward lets others take theirs over his.
I must confess I do not know how teams decide who should take more shots, I assume they plan it out to an extent...
Hayward got paid, he will not be as concerned this year on his stats as I am sure others were.
He said recently he still doesn't have the liftoff off his left foot. That tells me he is 80% give or take.
It took Paul George almost 1 whole bad season to get beck to form. I honestly do not know what to expect from Hayward this year.
I just hope by the 2nd half of the season he is close to his old form. Stinks for the Celtics.
Year1 - out injury
Year2 - getting back to form hopefully be the end of the year
Year3 - after this hopefully fully healthy season he can opt out ...(Maybe I am hopeful, but I hope he opts out , resigns with the Celtics at a Discount to keep the stars together.... Time will tell

Sixers vs Boston - 9 to go in game, GH is +15 with 20 points and an actual stat line.

I'm surprised. I was actually looking to see what Tatum had going on because I heard he made a move killed both Embiid and Simmons on one play.

Not completely shocked, but "mostly shocked" in the words of Miracle Max.

Hayward - 26 pts in 28 minutes on 8/11 shooting with a monster 3 with 1:30 left to give the Celtics the lead after falling down 2.

Best game of year for him on Celtics.... He is starting to get back to form....

I randomly decided to look back here today and notice you are up to 14 pages on Hayward....

Guess you can't get over the hot chick that dumped you.

Wait until he wins the championship either this year or next, that will sting.....

New Orleans are winning the title next year ????

Look above dumb ***. Same response. He will get title with Celtics. Book it.

Celtics have completely missed the boat. Been surpassed by Sixers, Bucks and Raptors. Poor fit of players, bad chemistry, lame duck head coach, toxic culture from the GM down. Fans booing their own team regularly. Gonna end badly for your little pretty boy.

Now **** off and get back to school
