What's new

Kyrie Irving

Obviously if you can add someone with Kyrie's talent to your roster you have to do it, especially a small market team like Utah that isn't a free agent destination. I highly doubt he would actually want to come here though.

Rather go after Kemba for three reasons

1. I don't buy that Kyrie would ever come here. There have been several reports over the last few years that he wants to be in a big market. That may have changed but it worries me. I do think Kemba would come here.

2. Drama follows Kyrie wherever he goes. I'm not sure I want him in our locker room. There's no drama with Kemba.

3. I think Kemba's attitude is very similar to Gobert and Mitchell. All three are fierce competitors who play with chips on their shoulders.

Don't like Irving....he's a trouble maker. And he's overrated as a shooter as well!

Please explain how he's overrated as a shooter? He's a career 46.5% shooter and 39% from 3 and he's shot over 40% from 3 the past 3 seasons. He's also a great rim finisher.

Seems to me he misses shots he should make and makes shots after the outcome of the game has been decided! I just don't like him or his attitude! Rather spend the money on a couple of other guys who will sacrifice themselves for the sake of the game!

I really doubt that he really means this but adding him will make us contender instantly. we all know we just need one more scorer. he will be amazing for us

Of course they want Kyrie. He's better than everyone on the jazz team. He's phenomenal

If Kyrie wanted to come here, cool. But if Kemba wanted to come here too, I'd rather go that route. Kemba/DM/Jingles/Favors/Rudy with Crowder and Royce pulling good minutes makes me very, very happy when I think about. Nothing against Kyrie, but drama will follow him and Utah usually isn't the best situation for that.

Draymond Green has multiple rings. As does Dennis Rodman.
Rasheed Wallace, Kevin Garnett, Bill Laimbeer, Ron Artest, Jason Kidd all come to mind as well and all had their issues and dramas on and off the court.

Hell... Kobe was in a rape lawsuit and MJ was notorious for being disliked as a teammate, had a big gambling problem and was caught paying drug dealers.

Throw in players who simply made it to the finals and you get AI’s run ins with the law, Barkley’s numerous addictions, Ewing soliciting prostitutes, etc.

Those guys, Draymond and Rodman were malcontents but they werent the team leaders. So the leaders (Dirk, Pierce, Billups, Kobe, MJ, Isiah, etc.) kept those guys in check.

As for Kobe and MJ, they were top10 players all time.

Kyrie isn't a top 10 player right now much less all time. And if he came here, we dont yet have the type leader needed to keep a Kyrie in check.

Keep him in check from what? What is it that you think he would do if he were with the jazz and we were winning around 60 games?

I mean get the best out of the team. Rasheed was great in Portland, but was refined in Detroit by amazing leadership.

I think Kyrie is an ideal 2nd option player like he was Cleveland. His fragile body and ego isn't a good fit for being an alpha on a contender. We don't have the alpha to lead Kyrie. Donovan just isn't quite there yet and Kyrie's personality could completely dominate and derail Donovan's current rapid progression.

I just think he is a terrible fit.

Good point. The question is do we win a championship with Kyrie? That's the gamble.
