Dante Appreciation Thread

Time to honor the guy for his efforts the last five years to overcome his constant injuries. You can't say he didn't try. Sometimes you don't always get what you want in life, but so long as you do your best to accomplish your goals, then you should be satisfied. I'm sure Dante hasn't given up yet, but I think it's time he takes a hard look at his next move. If you continue to beat your head against an immovable wall, you will only bring more suffering upon yourself. Whatever he does next, we should wish him well and better luck.

There's never been a better mouth breather in the league, When I play full court rec ball and have to bend over after just a few trips down the court, I've stopped getting down on myself. I think of Dante. He's an NBA player and for 5 years, he's always looked and played gassed after just a few minutes. That is, when he hasn't been hurt. Thanks, Dante. You got drafted way too high for the level of ball you played at. You had a year off before the draft and managed to somehow not develop a shot during that time. And clearly, your various rehabs didn't involve touching or shooting a basketball.

Dante, I look forward to the trade deadline in a couple of years, when you finally repay the Jazz faith in you by having great trade value as an expiring contract.

Imagine being such an awful human being that out of all of the other Dante threads where people are levying fair and unfair criticisms alike, you feel compelled to come to the one Dante thread trying to respect the effort the guy has gone through to be healthy and able to contribute to the Jazz in a positive way and take a proverbial **** on him.

Go **** yourself you miserable human being.

Thanks. And I thank Dante for NOT working on his game. Good gawd. The guy has had SIX years to work on his shot (and I'm not counting his youth basketball days). He's just never shown the desire or pride to be an NBA player. He got his contract and was LUCKY he was hurt. Otherwise, he would have never received his 2nd deal. Lindsey basically backed himself into a corner. His rebuild strategy depended on getting a star in the lottery. Burke and Lyles flamed out, so Exum was Dennis' last hope. And I don't completely disagree with re-signing Dante. You hope a young player matures and has the FIRE to improve. With his size and speed, imagine if Dante had half the desire Donovan does. If he did, ALL of us would be saying, "just wait until Donovan comes back."

But do you really think Dante comes to this board and searches to find an "Appreciation" thread about himself. You're ****ing delusional. This appreciation thread is just here for you, Eenie and other Exum groupies to do a collective circle jerk and give each other an internet *******.

So lighten up, Francis.

Glass Xray Exum gets a participation award and pat on the back for getting his contract renewed with bust like numbers. I appreciate that when it comes time again his agent will still demand star like salary.

You can't blame Dante for his injuries, and that's what you're doing. The guy just has a fragile build. I think he really is injury prone. We've seen him take hits that lots of guy would just get back up and shake off. But he doesn't and the MRIs show that it's not because he's soft, he's really injured. No, he doesn't have a good shot, but then neither does Ricky and he's been playing a lot longer. Some people aren't good shooters; he has other talents. But if he can't stay healthy, then it's all moot and he won't be able to develop his potential. Stop blaming him and being such an ***.

We were screaming no!!!!! before the draft pointing to exact the same thing. Even playing vs kids his own age he was awkward, unbalanced and landing on his *** any time there was a slightest contact driving to the basket. Guy had "FRAGILE" written all over him in any pre draft video. Still shaking my head how Jazz ignored all the red flags about him ( and I am not even talking ball handling or shooting). That length and quick first step all it took to buy into hype.

I too never wanted the jazz to draft dante and never thought he would be any good. His HS competition was too poor.
I understood why they took him (he was the player most teams would have picked after wiggins, jabari, embiid, and gordon) but i was not happy about it.

To be fair the teams that drafted Wiggins, Jabari and Gordon can't be too happy either with all the hype there was with that draft.

I didn’t see that in the few videos they showed. He seemed aggressive and attacked the rim a lot. There were game stats with him going to the line like 10-15x a game which seemed promising since that’s sort of a requisite for most superstars. Attack the rim. Get the calls.

yes he attacked the rim, but uncoordination and lack of strength, balance was obvious. First 4 layups in the video - three of them he ends up awkwardly falling to the floor.

Feel bad for him... ****** deal... the timing was just never right for us and Dante and injury after injury just hit at the exact worse time. Seems like a great kid and teammate.

Lack of strength? He was 18 years old.

This thread isn't about whether the Jazz made a mistake in drafting him. It's about the efforts he has made to overcome his constant injuries. Who knows, maybe he will come back. But if I were the Jazz, I'd let him go so that he could have a fresh start. Maybe he needs to go to overseas and build up his body. He still is only 23. Jingles didn't get into the NBA until he was 27.

can't blame the player for getting injured on court. it is DL's decision to extend him to a 3yr 33mil fully guaranteed, which essentially prevents us from getting any high quality players in this upcoming free agency without giving up BOTH Ricky and Favs, that we have problem with.
