This is so true. I watched the end of a Boston game, their commentators sounded at least 80 years old. Which isn’t necessarily bad. But they were dry and boring for such a close game.

Boston, Philadelphia, and Sacramento have the biggest "homer" announcers. Their team never commits a foul ever according to them. Dominique Wilkins for Atlanta was being a bit of a "homer" too, but I wouldnt consider him too bad.
 
I like Thurl a lot. He really eased into the role nicely.

That said, I like Harp and Smith too. The Jazz have 3 color guys who are a lot better than most other team's "best."
 
Man I wish Thurl would stay on permanently. He almost makes "Swiss army measuring stick" bolerhack tolerable.
 
How you know Thurl is good? During the game no one says, can we mute the announcers.

I clicked on this thinking this was an appreciation thread for Thurl Bailey the retired basketball player. Were appreciating commentators before retirement and death now? Cool, I guess the flood gates have opened. While we're at it, lets start an appreciation thread for the guy that's always outside scalping tickets for the last 20 years. To hell with it, lets get him a statue and talk about why or why not he should have one, for the next 2 weeks.
