The next 2 games are a must lose!

If my math is correct, the Jazz can force a matchup with Portland by losing their last 2 games of the season, regardless of what happens in the other teams' games.

Bench everyone! Start Bradley and Naz and whatever, and play them heavy minutes! The Jazz are in full control of their destiny! They only have to lose.

We can do it guys! Go Clips! Go Denver!

I'd prefer to punish Denver by beating them and having the Rockets beat the Thunder. Cowards would then be the 3rd seed with Rockets the 2nd, and their disgraceful tank tonight will have completely backfired.

I don't think Denver is an option. It's either Houston or Portland. And Portland is preferable to Denver anyway.

Yeah, let's have the jazz play against the Blazers. Whatever man, it's just like fighting a child. If you beat the child then everyone will say that you only won because you fought a child. If you lose to a child then everyone will think that you are a joke.

I say keep trying to win and let's see where the Jazz land.

It might make sense to lose to Denver on Tuesday to create the flexibility of finishing either 5th or 6th in the event OKC wins out.

The Jazz have the advantage of starting late in LAC on Wednesday too. By then OKC's game in Milwaukee should be over and we'll know exactly where Utah stands.

On the other hand I really, really, really want to see Denver lose the 2nd seed after the **** they pulled tonight.

Ummm...you act as if winning or losing against the Clippers is actually in the Jazz' control. Utah just lost to the Lakers led by McGee, Muscala, KCP and Caruso! No Lebron, no Hart, Ingram or Kuzma. Gobert, Mitchell and Ingles ought to lose a paycheck. Can't blame this one on Rubio.

I honestly hope Utah DOESN'T face Portland. Losing to Kanter and Hood may cause Gobert's nads to permanently recede in embarassment.

Idk about a must lose, but we need to play Mitchell, Gobert, and Ingles as little as possible. I’m more concerned about our guys being tired/injured than I am about where we finish.

Are you the one that **** talks Stockton, too?

The loss tonight was disgraceful.

Not at all. I think Stockton was the 2nd best PG in the history of the league. IMO, Magic was #1 due to his versatility and ability to take over games. No disrespect to Stockton, but John was rarely an alpha. As much as I respect the Jazz, Karl, John and Sloan failed to win any championships. And they didn't just fall short against MJ. They were often upset in the playoffs.

I have always been of the belief that you never lose games on purpose to force a particular playoff matchup. It will come back to haunt us. Karma always finds a way to bite you in the ***. Plus, I want the Jazz to win 50+ games...so **** this idea, win out!

Ah, it is. Must be fun rooting for a team full of players you have contempt for.

What I'm saying is we should beat Denver and bank on the Rockets beating the Thunder (I really believe they will. The Rockets are the far superior team right now.) The Jazz will then be playing the Blazers in the first round and the Nuggets will drop to the 3rd seed.

By the way, the Jazz are still technically in the running for HCA if they win their last two and Portland loses their last two.

Everything hinges on the Houston/OKC game. If Houston wins that game, Houston will take the 3rd seed (at least) and Portland falls to 4th. Utah will be 5th, since OKC with the loss can no longer catch the Jazz.

If OKC wins that game, then Portland can win their last game and take the 3rd seed, dropping Houston to the 4th seed.

If the Jazz lose both of their last two games, then OKC *could* catch Utah and take the 5th seed by winning their last two games. However, if I were OKC, I'd just lose the last game of the season and take the 6th seed to get the Portland/Denver draw, leaving Utah in a 4/5 matchup with Houston.

In other words, it's out of the Jazz's control. We need Houston to beat OKC in order to avoid a 4/5 matchup with Houston.

Mindblowing scenario, if OKC beats Houston, Utah loses to Denver, and:

Season finale
02:00 OKC wins @ Milwaukee (Mil probably resting players).

04:30 Utah @ Clippers (Clippers locked at 8th, could rest players)
04:30 Portland vs Sacramento

Utah wins = 5th / Utah loses = 6th
Portland wins = 3rd / Portland loses = 4th

Both teams playing at the same time, and both results creating different matchups: Utah-Houston / Portland-OKC or Utah-Portland and Houston-OKC.
Both teams can choose their seeding, but they can't choose their opponent, because it depends on the other game too.

1 GS
2 Den
3 Hou 53-29
4 Por 52-29 vs Sac
5 Uta 49-32 @LAC
6 OKC 49-33
7 SA 48-34
8 LAC 47-34 vs Uta

So, NO, losing both games doesn't guarantee the Jazz facing Portland. It still can be Houston if they lose to OKC.
Again, HOUSTON PLEASE, BEAT OKC.
