What's new

Has the Niang ERA begun?

Oof.

This is brutal.

He’s a good 8th or 9th man. Not a starter.
I’ll bet you were one of the ones talking as if you knew with no doubt Ingles wasn’t an nba player.

Sorry but you don’t know what your talking about and your trying to show me up, as if I said anywhere in my post Niang should start next year 100%. Your not gods gift to player evaluations. All I did was mention the improvement to his game from beginning of the year to now. All I’m saying is that he has potential to be a starter down the road if he works his *** off like Ingles did. Because I said he has potential, your going to be condescending to me?

I’ve always maintained that Joe is a fantastic player to come off the bench on a championship caliber team. My opinion on him hasn’t changed.

But you’re right, I’m wrong. Let’s start Niang next year. Championship!

I feel comfortable with him getting regular minutes. But he's one of the guys like Royce, Neto, etc. that don't move the needle. Good, glad to have them, but don't improve the team to the point of taking a big step forward. We have plenty of those guys.

However, I could see him making a big leap like Ingles did. Likely? Probably not. But possible.

Once again putting words in my mouth. You might be one of the biggest liars on this board

I’m not sure if this is a serious post.

So you’re either advocating for Niang to be our stretch 4 and come off the bench while maintaining the status quo of favors and Gobert at the 4/5.

Or you’re advocating for Niang to start as our stretch for.

Either way, I don’t think this helps improve our team.

If Niang is the best stretch 4 we can find then we can continue to lose against the elites of the west.

And in all honesty, he isn’t much better than that. He should be a role player coming off the bench. Or have we not seen our heads kicked in by the warriors and rockets enough?
He's one of the best SF's in the league. He'd start on 24 NBA teams.

is he our best option at the stretch 4 position right now? Just look at how different he looks now than the start of the year. It’s complete night and day. He’s skilled can shoot and create for himself and confident with the ball in hand. He needs more min and experience in order to learn to make smarter plays for himself and the team, but he definitely has potential as a knock down shooter and playmaker. While not the most athletic, he’s underrated in that area to some degree, not a great defender, but he cares and plays hard and isn’t a complete liability on that end.

The Niang era could also be known as the lottery era, you can keep that.

Between people wondering if Grayson Allen should be getting serious minutes after Game 2 and this thread after Game 3 I think you get a pretty good idea about how sorry the state of affairs are offensively for the Jazz in this series if you didn't realise beforehand.

except grayson when given time is clearly the 2nd best offensive-minded guard on the team. he most definitely should be getting minutes and it's surprising that he wasn't in the rotation last night.

True but he's still the closest. Probably should be Exum at this stage but he can't stay healthy enough to prove he can create like Joe and he sure as hell can't shoot.
Are you talking about Niang? Shooting is his forte, but the fact that he does as well as he can with his limited athleticism shows that he has potential for improvement, and I think he can develop into a solid role player, is a good ball handler too for a guy his size.

I'm not going to bother going down the Grayson Allen rabbit hole with an Allen stan as my point was more about how terribly our starters/rotation players have been vs trying to bag Allen or Niang.

That was about Royce. Niang might have that potential but I personally haven't seen any Ingles like flashes from a playmaking aspect.

Oh great. More ammo for the inevitable "organic growth" argument we're going to hear this summer. Our free agent acquisition will be Exum back from injury, we'll get organic growth from Niang and Royce, and we'll revel in our financial flexibility.
