What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Why wouldn't you max Russell? Jazz need to take a risk. We're not getting of the normal "max" players. Only way we get talent is taking a risk of overpaying or trading a star player a la Gobert, which I'm not opposed to anymore.

I think he's an inefficient volume scorer that won't make the team a ton better. I agree you have to take shots on talent. I think he is a bit over-rated right now. I would not mind him on a more reasonable contract, but someone will give him close to the max... and likely regret it. I think Dinwiddie and Levert are both better than him but he gets all the shine for some reason... I mean Caris was hurt most of the year, so I get that. I'd be terrified to pay him what I think he will get.

The jazz will have to overpay for role players too. There's a lot of teams under cap this offseason... why would a solid role player choose Utah over say Atlanta, Brooklyn, LA, NYC, etc. They wouldn't, unless we overpay. Whoever we get in FA, we'll have to overpay.

This should answer your question.

If we were trading Rudy it would have to be a deal so obviously slanted in our favor that any moron would do it. Our front office is pretty conservative... I don't see the scenario where we really consider trading DM or Rudy unless they demanded it.

Give Favors and Exum, plus/minus anyone they wanted of TB and GA, then three first rounders. Go all in. Roll the dice on that one.

Sure, but don't give a max to a guy who maybe is a low end starter... Russell may not be that... he might be more, but he has been solid in the Leastern Conference, has had maturity issues in the past, has had some injury issues in the past, and his defense is bad... I just think we have what he provides already, but with more upside. I'd rather give a max to Brogdon who is incredibly efficient and a solid defender.

Just to be clear... I wouldn't call it stupid for someone to suggest it... this is more a difference of opinion. I think there is too much risk for too little reward with him.

How much do you guy's think it would take to lure Bogdanovic away from Indiana?

Then renounce Rubio, Sef and Udoh and big offer for a pg. Or sign Kemba!

Kemba
Mitchell
Ingles
Davis
Favors
Ring

Two years of Gobert aren't enough for 1 year of AD unfortunately. Although Jrue, Randle, and Gobert make for a pretty good team.

The issue is you may get the 2018 version of AD that isn't motivated or the guy gets hurt... and that you are just trading 2 years of Rudy for him... I believe he'd stay as long as we paid him fairly... so it might be one year for 6 years.

I think that would pretty easily be the best offer NO gets. Ainge is gonna yank they chain this summer... especially if Kyrie walks.

If Brogdon or Russell would sign here for the max,we have to do it. Both are $27.5 max level guys. Sure it's a lot, but Mitchell is on a rookie level deal as is Royce.

It's an interesting contrast with those two... part of me wonders if Russell gets better and uses less possessions will he get meaningfully more efficient. On Brogdon I wonder what happens if he doesn't have Giannis and ramps up his usage. Can he stay as efficient while adding the volume?

I think both guys will be retained by their current teams but there is a chance they aren't willing to go that high.

Trade Favors/Exum for Conley.

Do what it takes to sign Millsap back to Utah.

Championship.
I was saying that if we traded for Conley, to use MLE on Jabari. Millsap wouldn't be bad, either. I haven't seen much of Millsap recently. How's his D? Also, sign DWill, too.

Three way---Davis to Boston, Gobert to Pellicans, Hayward and a pile of picks to Jazz?

Who says no? (besides Gobert)
