Sadly no, it was a step back. Not even a lateral.

Sometimes you need to take a few steps back before you surge forward...

I feel the draft, free agency and a trade or two will get us what we need.

As mentioned more scoring. Players who can create their own shot and a point guard who can distribute the ball and shoot/score.. that can hit open shots.

DL, you must show something this off-season

If you stand pat and make excuses for staying with what we have you risk our future progress and we should consider replacing you ... That's the blunt truth.

Oh yeah draft smart please no more Exum busts.

Winning one more game, and losing to the best team in the NBA after the All-Star break, is not a step back from last year. We didn't advance, either. The objective was to give this group of players another chance to prove themselves, and they proved they couldn't advance.

No, this season was about as stagnant as a season could get. While players may have improved, the team as a whole stayed right where it was at besides a win or two in regular season. We week still a 5th seed.

It was an enjoyable season none the less but I can't call it a success.

If I could rate the season, I'd give it a C. Players did as well as could be expected. I thought Utah would get to 55 wins with HC advantage, but Jazz fell short.

The lower grade is because Lindsey did next to nothing. Jazz got Korver. Lindsey replaced Jerebko with Niang. Despite having room under the tax he didn't sign anyone. He didn't have a Plan B at the deadline.

He might be the most overpaid GM in tje league.

How much is he paid? How much is the average gm paid? How much is the highest and lowest gm paid?

Just curious how you live your life in general?
Dancng bruh. I dont literally dance, more figuratively, like a dancing on graves type of thing... actually everyonce in a while ill bust a move like Famous Dex when i pass a mirror or something, but comfortably and powerfully with a wry smile, I kicked my feet up years ago.

The universe is dancing all around us, I've done nothing special, just falling in line.. I just do a much better job than most at catching the vibe...

picture a great juggler, something like that, my daily tasks would take a small army of monkey's in suits to complete and they would do a terrible job compared to me, and i just do it as an exercise, a flex if u will.. i've been flexing for years one might say...

you know in Apocalypse Now when Marlon Brando says "you're an errand boy sent by store clerks", thats how I feel bout most ppl I meet, so I try to spend time absorbing culture.

If you've ever seen the Ingmar Bergman masterpeice "Wild Strawberries" from the 50's, I'm with that Isaak Borg type of ****.

I am actually on such a high horse that I'll never really get off it to come speak about things I find to be important. I know the cold reality that ppl for the most part are dormant have very little to offer me, I have what they can offer already and oh so much more. The internet has cut out many middle men, great time to be alive. My skills are top shelf, cutting edge one might say, anyone trying to talk to me bout my ****, will ultimately turn into me just debriefing them bout **** they dont know.. my time is too valuable.

They couldn't advance, so yeah it was a failure.

It all depends on how you define "success". Below are some definitions and my response for each

Was it financially profitable? I am sure it was.
Was the team a championship contender? No
Was the team better than last year? Yes
Was the team much better than last year? No
Did DL avoid moves that ruined the team's future? Yes
Did DL make any moves that improved the team's future? No
Did the Jazz meet expectations? Depends on if you expected us to be better than Rockets and/or Warriors

Let's not kid ourselves here. The season was not a success. Getting spanked in the first round by any team is a quantifiable step back.
Correct, context never matters. As John Lennon sang, "You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not". See, meaning doesn't change with surrounding info!

I haven't read through the thread but I think we could have been close to taking out Houston... if Donovan shot a little better, if Joe played his averages, and if Dante hadn't passed. So we can't be too hard on our management.

It was an experiment. Sometimes you need to get negative results in a properly run experiment.

You can call it an experiment. Obviously head office thought it needed more at the trading deadline yet more should have been done prior. I guess DL really sold you on it ? He has a way of making a stand still seem like no better options were available.

Whereas you know for a fact better options were available? List one or two of these options, please, and how you know they were better.

You know about Conley right ? Just to hold on to Exum ? I'm ok about Grayson. Did you see how little Niko got traded for or how about Otto Porter Jr. We could have got these guys for very little. You remember this right ? DL being a lil too lax and perhaps too conservative. Let's get real Exum is a bust

If it's Conley for Rubio, Favors, and Exum (that seemed to be about the deal proposed)? This is before Exum became ded. That seems like a lot to give up for Conley.

Parker and Portis were both above-average players this year. Who do we give that's equivalent for Porter?

However, I agree on Mirotic. He seems a steal for four second-rounders, if he resigns. If not, that was a bad trade for Milwaukee.

Give up expiring and picks for Porter maybe jabari too ? Though I don't like jabari.

Exum sucks even before he got dead again . As I said prior Conley would take us to the next level. An old Conley with a bit of an overpayment is much more potent than a current Rubio or a future Exum which is more bust ...

I agree with everything you said there.

I'm not saying to crucify DL but he could have pulled the trigger on something to get us over the hump. He has a tendency of doing nothing and selling us the impression that he couldn't improve us. I don't buy it he must do more this off season or we will lose our strides in the west. Plus Mitchell and Gobert will get pissed

In response to the OP, this season was a success based on expectations. If we think of pre-snyder, post-sloan experience, we made the playoffs, we won 50 games. That's success. If we think of expectations based on last season's success, this year was a wet blanket.

#D.O.N. is the answer to all our challenges!

No way I trade Favors, Rubio AND Exum for Conley. That’s just silly. I would have done any combination of 2 out of the 3, but not all 3.

And no matter how Exum’s career pans out, we’ve just invested too much time and money not to give him another shot.

I’m glad DL didn’t pull the trigger on that one.
