Offseason - Tomorrow Begins Today

I think that the Jazz will trade for Mike Conley sometime around the draft. Maybe on draft night.

I don't think that they'll take it to free agency because I don't think that DL will want to gamble on losing Rubio/Favors without getting anything in return.

The Conley deal just makes too much sense for all parties involved. And we already know both sides were talking about it at the deadline.

He also has an irrational bias against Mirotic. But, yeah.

Mirotic just has the that smell of John Ameachi on him. He seems good in theory, but I just don't see the will to win in him. He will likely be on his 4th team in just over 2 seasons. That doesn't happen often with good players.

I kinda agree here. I suspect that if the trade doesn't happen, the Jazz probably feel like they have a particular FA "in the bag." Maybe that's why the Conley trade fell apart during the season.

We can guarantee Favors to avoid losing him, and can't trade Rubio at all except in a sign-and-trade (and then can't package him with anyone else).

Yeah but don't we have to guarantee him by like July 7th? (If I remember right) There's a chance that the free agents we target drag their feet making a decision and we get stuck in a very bad spot. Just like we did when Hayward dragged his decision on and on and we missed out on other options.

Does it for the Grizz now? Exum’s now ded again.

If we guarantee Favors, can we even trade him immediately or would we have to wait til that December date that’s used for new signings?

Amaechi never sounded good in theory. I have no idea what anyone ever saw on him, aside from one good game that he had against us.

I don’t think so. I think the Conley trade is evidence of DL’s doubts about this summer. If he thought he had someone in the bag, he wouldn’t have dangled that trade over the locker room for two weeks.

He could be traded at any time, it’s just that in the act of trading him the contract becomes guaranteed (or it doesn’t count as outgoing salary if it isn’t).

I really like Crowder a lot but if we can trade him and sign Mrotic, that should be an upgrade.

Then, maybe we flip picks, Exum and Favors for Conley.

I’d still feel uncomfortable with our lack of depth at the 4 but that would be a start.

Conley
Mitchell-Allen
Ingles-O’Neale
Mrotic
Gobert

Our depth would be super shaky though.

Yeah, if we renounced Rubio, Udoh and Sef and Korver retired and we could trade Crowder to someone with some space for next to nothing, we’d be at 77.4M. Then if we did the Conley trade, we’d be at about 83.4M or 26M under the cap.

We could sign Mirotic to 3/45 or something and still have 11-12M under the cap to fill out the roster.

Crowder has got more talent than mirocrap and it ain't even close. Niko is fools gold. A brick layer when he is off, a matador defender and a big inconsistent player say no to him.

I completely disagree. Mirotic is a much better scorer, shooter and rebounder than Crowder.

I think Niang showed something this year. If we can trade Crowder and get an impact player back, I think Gorgeous Georges can easily take Crowder's role.
