Can The Jazz Fix Wiggins?

If we got him then I'd assume that it was because Quin and DL felt confident they could implement him into the offense and make him give a **** about basketball.

So I'd be all for it.

But I don't think we will get him, so I will assume the opposite.

He has all the talent in the world though, and definitely fill some holes for us, in theory.

I just think its a another bad pairing with Donovan trying to work out his own efficiency issues. What we need is more stability on offense. Wiggins is too boom or bust on a nightly basis.

Wiggins, RoCo, and their 2020 1st for

Favors, Exum, and Korver (who’s going to retire anyway)

That I do.

I then try to flip our 1st this year for someone else’s next so that we have three 1sts in 2020.

Mitchell
Wiggins-Allen
Ingles-O’Neale
RoCo-Crowder
Gobert

Then we fill in the gaps with cap room/MLE.

I wish we could do that trade. I hope DL ghosts on here. I checked their contracts and Gibson is a FA. In the event they want to keep Covington Wolves have Saric also. Getting Saric likely isn't a possibility but it would be awesome.

sooo much riding on that IF, doe.

This is a good offseason thread.
I'm only for it if we really can't sign anyone. I'd take Lamb over Wiggins in the 15 million a year range, but real chance the Jazz get no legitimate scoring option and then Wiggins looks like a necessary bet.

I don't think Minnesota will give up assets and Wiggins in a salary dump. I doubt they think they could use that space on free agents. I don't think they will be in a hurry to move him. So as you evaluate it I would think of it in terms of a straight salary dump. Otherwise they just hold him and wait. He's the type that if he had a good opening month he might be able to get them assets in a salary dump move.

- no not see Jazz getting a Kemba or Tobias kind of guy
- do not want another season like this one
- do want Jazz to take risks

Prefer to build our own "trust the proccess" than a couple more seasons like last one.

A bit one-sided no? I would expect something like Favors and Exum for Wiggins (ie, only players both teams are ready to move on from).

We don’t need to love from favors. We can opt out. And Exum is young and doesn’t have a huge salary. Wiggins sort of blows and they wanna get out from under it.

I may be stupid but I do NOT want the Jazz to include Favors in this hypothetical trade, nor do I think the Jazz are wanting to move him.

Favors is efficient, he can score which the Jazz need more of, even if not in the way of today's stretch 4. I think, or maybe it's wishful thinking, that the Jazz can still find that sweet spot to utilize Favors more to take advantage of his efficiency and scoring but not to the point where his efficiency drops (as tends to be the case when any player's utilization goes up).

I don't want to make this about Favors but I believe he's still vastly underrated by Jazz fans and that the narrative on him has been the same for so long (that his name is always in every trade rumor) and every one thinks every shooting 6'8" or larger big man is a automatically better. That it's just become lazy thinking, much the same way we berate the National media for some of their takes on the Jazz ..... any way I digress.

I do believe though with the roster as currently constituted Rubio or Favors while starting quality/level players one needs to be moved on from this off season. Despite them being such good team, chemistry, locker room veteran players and all those other little things we love about them.

Really good post.

I would take Wiggins if we had our offense figured out. I would never get Wiggins to figure out our offense.

We need Kemba. I hope Kemba sees how clear the path is: he can really elevate his profile in the league by coming here. Our first-round exit might even make it more appealing to him, since that will only amp up the narrative of everything he'll do for the jazz.

Were you trying to build a list of contradictions?

Hey Kemba, look at what Bud-Q's system did for Jeff ****ing Teague. Check that out. Please.
The Jazz is Kemba's path to the HOF (help get Mitchell there too kthx). Guess his UCONN career will help but you know what I mean.

Wiggins is one of those athletes where his natural athletic gifts did not match with killer instinct and desire to be the best. He got paid, got lazy and happy. He does not care. Doubt anything can fix it.

If he comes to the jazz, and the team is on pace for a 60-win season, and he's averaging an efficient mid-20s, 7.5 assists, etc., then how do you keep him out of the MVP discussion? He's been an All-Star; the next step is to get into that discussion. The Jazz give him the best chance, IMO.
