What's new

Quin has lost his mind

Not only insane, fishonjazz, but untrue also. The actual numbers are: 12,411 field goal ATTEMPTS; 5,499 field goals MADE; 6,536 free throw ATTEMPTS.
More free throws made than field goals made is also insane and lame
Not as insane as field goal attempts, but still

Just want to say, Quin did a phenomenal job this series. To master a new defensive scheme after two games and one week of work is outstanding. Says a lot about the player's IQ and commitment to the program too. It's unfortunate we couldn't convert the open shots the offense generated. Now it's DL's turn to fix the roster. I want to see what Quin can do with more talent.

I'm 40 and I watched all the guys you are referring to. James Harden does stuff MJ never could. MJ was revolutionary in how he played. Wings didn't know how to guard him. The best defender of his era was 6'3" Joe Dumars who was about as athletic as Raymond Felton.

Every wing in today's game has to be able to defend on the perimeter. They train to guard guys who play like MJ. Even more, they now have to guard the 3. What Harden is doing offensively is incredible. Sure there was more contact in MJ's day, but you couldn't touch MJ. You couldn't hit him the same way other guys were getting hit.

For a concrete example, look at Reggie Miller. He played in that era and torched teams. Harden is miles better at everything than Reggie. Every facet of his game is much better than Reggie's.

So yes, Harden's offense can easily be compared to MJ. I actually think it's better. Harden is hitting step back 3's over 6'8" defenders. MJ hit fade away 14 footers over guys like Hornacek, Ehlo, Dumars, etc.

You must have watched Jordans winning shots at the buzzer reel on youtube. You got Ehlo, Dumars, Hornacek. You watched him? Do you remember him being double and sometimes triple teamed? Let's elaborate on that "etc" part of your story,
Sean Elliot
Bruce Bowen
Clyde Drexler
Dominique Wilkins
Reggie Theus
Calbert Cheaney
Alex English
Stacey Augmon
Rolondo Blackman
Mitch Richmond
Michael Cooper
Magic Johnson
Larry Bird
Cliff Robinson
James Worthy
Lephonso Ellis
Chris Jackson
Chuck Person
George Gervin
Ron Mercer
Dr. J

Harden falls down after every shot. His competition can't even hand check him up the court or when he's into position. I'm not even having this convo anymore.

How do you explain away our 50 win season then?

We're just getting beat by a superior team is all. It's pretty simple.

Only 8 teams reached 50 wins out of 30 teams! We're one of them. That's something to be proud of. Not complacent with, but proud of. Build off of that.

They've been building around Harden for 5 years people! It takes time. We're only 2 years into our rebuild. Be proud!

Only 2 years into our rebuild? Where have you been for the past 2 decades?

Harden will probably be the first player to be better at getting to the line than Malone. Karl was king of the contact drawing flailing. He owns 6 of the top 25 FTr seasons. Gobert has the 3rd highest season, last year. Barkley shot a lot of free throws. Amare and Admiral were great at getting to the line. And of course #1 season of all time goes to Dwight Howard, cuz everyone wanted him there. Not even Hack-a-Shaq could beat Dwight.
