What's new

Tobias Harris

Backup 5s are the easiest and cheapest thing to get in the NBA. What he does as a 5 is a complete luxury, what he does as a 4 is create a ceiling for what this offense and our franchise pillars can do.

It's simple resource allocation; paying that amount of money to what is mostly a backup (or a lane-clogger) is foolish.

As a C, I think he'd be an above average starting C in this league. We already have an easily top-5 starting C. If you can get something through trade using that information and cap number, great, otherwise, let's try to actually improve the team instead of lazily settle for what is comfortable and familiar.

Great points! And I agree with the amount is too high. But what I’m saying is the luxury of having a above average 5 behind Gobert in case he God forbid gets hurt.

But yes I agree that what he would be paid is way too much.

My point is if we lose Favs and don’t sign any big FA. That would be a bad thing. I don’t think big FA will come here. And the thought of losing Favs too would set us back even further. But since it’s before free agency. We may have no other choice but to take that risk.

There will not be a can to kick. If we end up keeping Favors and our big acquisition is overpaying Terry Rozier I'm going to **** my nuts and cry.

I’d love to keep Favors but not in this scenario.

We need Harris or Kemba. Or a similar level player.

Look, if in some bizarre scenario, Favors ends up striking out and the Jazz have some space that's around the MLE (cuz Favors will likely AT LEAST get an MLE offer and we have to acknowledge SOME level of reality), then great, come on back. Happy to have him. $18 million is completely bananas, though.

I'm willing - eager, even - to part with Favors in the pursuit of other players. And for the millionth time, it's not because he's not good or not likable.

There are enough whispers to have a thread for the dude. Philly will hopefully be eliminated on Sunday. Jimmy Butler has been great and I'd be shocked if he wasn't offered the max from the Sixers. On the same note, I can't imagine Harris getting the max after a second round exit, and he didn't particularly assert himself in the playoffs or on the star studded team.

But you'd have to think he'd look amazing on the Jazz. And fills a huge need.

So cap experts: Is renouncing Favs and letting Rubio go enough to offer him a 4 year max? He is 26 years old, and fits our timeline and team just about perfectly.

If we have maxed out or cap room and now have Gobert Mitchell and Harris as the foundation pieces, how would you want to fill out the rest of the team?

MLE on a PG seems obvious, but I want to hear thoughts, and how the math works.

Also, no one is opposed to this scenario if it becomes available, right?

Sti!l don't think that team is a top 4 west team but Harris does fit bball wise

It's a pipe dream Kemba Walker to Jazz. You and I both have better chance winning the lottery. People need to not think about the
Possibility because it's never going to happen. Getting your hopes up. Tobias Harris a dude who could be in play however.

Harris is probably a best case scenario for the Jazz. IF the chance is there at some point, Jazz should go for it. In such case, Favors is gone. That's the nature of the beast. You receive something good but you've got to get some pain too.

You make it sound like the Jazz have a variety of star players to choose from and they should set their sights higher than Harris. Do you know how hard it is to get players to come to Utah? Especially a player of Harris's caliber. If he actually considers coming here then the Jazz offering him the max is an absolute no brainer.
The Hazz should take any decent player willing to come to Utah, beggars can’t be choosers. Get realistic, second tier FAs, draft picks and trades.

I think Sixers will resign Harris and Butler. They can offer more money. Utah is not a good FA place in last years. Now with a racist episode.
Its more realistic get the PF you need in a trade.
Suns wants a PG. They have a chaotic front office. So try in the draft night:
TJ Warren x Exum +1st Utah pick 2019 + 1st Utah pick 2020 top14 protected.
TJ Warren: 6,8, 215lb (Crowder 6,6, Harris 6,9). 428 3P%, 18 ppg...with contract until 2022, 11-12 mil per year.

Phoenix wants Booker to play PG. Of course if Exum was good they could still use him at 6'6", unfortunately he's not good.

You must be a Suns fan....or drunk. TJ Warren for 2 firsts?

This is exactly why if we miss out on big guys like Tobias, then we should keep our minds open to guys like Rozier.

We need to aim high, but still target guys who might have potential left in them.

No, i think is a good move for Utah. Get a good starter for a injure prone player with contract until 2021. And this let you keep Favors and Rubio, if you want, a proven roster, or let them go and pursuit another good FA players to improve
