So this is fully in keeping with the values of the franchise. Slow and steady maintain the bottom line and put butts in the seats. I don't believe any of them really care about rings, not since Larry died.
Jazz are a bit like the turtoise. I think they care about rings, but they also care about the dynamic and team harmony that they build that gets the ring. Although the ring is the end goal.. I believe the focus is also on the journey as well. I think if they felt they had the had the right pieces and they were ready, a big push would come. However, until then they would probably work to try to improve in a financially and sustainable way. I personally like this about the Jazz as a whole.
Skill, Luck and Timing are also significant in trying to get the ring. We were very lucky in getting Donovan but DL was also proactive in makign that move. The Miller family can probably also also see how hard DL works behind the scenes and probably want to reward him but also try to put him in a situation where he can focus on the things they think he can do best.
We need to remember that the organization is also a business and business is about profit and loss. This is especially important for small market teams. Revenue has probably increased under DL's tenure and probably so too have profits ? (i'm guessing there)
I for one can't wait for the day when all of the cogs click together in harmony.
