Kanter is on the verge of being played out of the GS series.
In short, NO, we did not give up too soon on him. He's a talented offensive player but an absolute cypher on defense. A team seeking to build a defensive identify (as the Jazz) cannot have a non-athletic, non-mobile, unable to guard the pick and roll center anchoring its defense.

Dear God, he looks like he's not even trying on defense. How did Denver not exploit this guy more?
Were we playing Portland (and being the league's #1 pick n' roll team), we'd be going at this guy almost every single possession.

In Kanter's defense the game plan was to drop on the PnRs, and Stotts defended it in his press conference. Him getting torched by Curry on PnRs all night isn't surprising.
Unfortunately I don't really know what other option Stotts has because Kanter sure as hell can't come out and hedge with getting beat off the dribble by Curry either lol.

Any other option is better. Play Aminu at C against the Warriors. ****, in this series, play Turner at C over Kanter.
Hoods legs gave up on him years ago...

Hood is a what-if situation. How does Donovan progress with Hood still in the rotation? The situation was unfortunate about his contract and I'm happy to see him get some resurgence in PDX. I wouldn't mind having him back on a rotational basis as he would help the bench.

U can't seriously believe this...What a spin-job... Kanter was deemed too expensive for us to retain, thats Utah giving up on him, not the other way around.
When he hit the market lets not forget 2 teams demonstrated they'd pay him the max, Portland and then OKC matched... It's not a matter of "giving up" thats a ******** narrative... It's a matter of $$$, book keeping, follow the money..
In-part due to the emergency of Rudy.. Make no mistake tho The Jazz held his restricted rights, they had full control...

Kanter wasn't too expensive for Utah, but they let him go cuz of Rudy, then he increased his value to a MAx player as a Backup on the Thunder? Is that how it went?? No way. C'mon now, thats obviously NOT how it went.. He was gonna get PAID from what we saw here in Utah...
The Jazz were the one who held the control. Kanter on the other hand, had no control over the situation...
If Utah didn't have control of this particular situation, then the system is flawed... do you understnad that? the owners collectively have failed to stand hallowed ground and the players association has seized too much power, and the competitive balance will sway further towards bigger markets, and probably in a year-over-year compounding manner, it'd only get worse before it got better...

Let’s be honest here. Enes wanted out coz Rudy was better center and more fitting to Jazz basketball. Enes has amazing footwork but it doesn’t help all that much in today’s game in the long run.

Circling back to this. Kanter and Hood are who they are: offensively skilled but defensively challenged. Hood also is terribly inconsistent. Thus not surprisingly, Kanter's playing time steadily diminished against GS and Hood finished the GS series with a couple of woeful performances. You can't rely on either for consistent, winning play. Utah figured it out, OKC, NY, and Cleveland figured it out, and now Portland is figuring it out.
