2019 Draft Combine

Maybe we just need to take this guy if he's there. He's a John Wall or Russell Westbrook-caliber athlete who wants to play and be good. Maybe that's enough...

Intriguing. But 11% from 3 on the AAU circuit is awful.

I read somewhere he shoots from the side of his head with no rotation. Can that be fixed?

Also read he has a tendency to make one or two really crazy plays then disappears for long stretches.

When the Jazz first drafted Bryon Russell, he couldn't hit the rim with his jump shot. It took a couple years, but he eventually became a reasonably reliable shooter. It's a question of whether he'll ever be good enough as a shooter, or if driving and kicking is enough to make an impact.

"A number of NBA scouts have told ESPN they attended Brewster Academy games this season to evaluate Lecque. Most, if not all, teams have scouted him in person."

"Lecque, who is a social media sensation due to his NBA dunk-contest-caliber explosiveness -- boasting over 300,000 followers on Instagram -- has a case to be considered the best athlete in the 2019 draft class. His perimeter shooting ability and decision making are issues he will need to address in the long-term to reach his full potential."

The sample size is so small. Can’t really extrapolate anything from that IMO. My personal philosophy is that the Jazz should use 2nd round picks on the best athlete on their board. Put him on the Stars and then let your developmental staff and a TON of reps mold him into a rotational player.

I wouldn’t use a 1st round pick on him, but he should be in the conversation in the 2nd. Utah needs to take high upside players and hope they blossom.

Boston used to like Grayson and they probably still do. I wonder if they'll go for Grayson and 23rd pick for the 14 pick if they don't use it in the AD trade. lol

Luka Samanic's times for the shuttle run and 3/4 court sprint are right near the top for forwards. He's testing really well athletically, right there with Brandon Clarke.
He actually already has the skills Clarke is supposed to be 'developing'...

I’d rather have Bazley. If he’s there.

From SI about Thursday's combine

"Bazley’s showing was a bit less encouraging, as there were moments where he looked somewhat lost offensively, and it was evident the year away from competitive basketball hadn’t helped him much from a feel perspective. The former McDonald’s All-American has always been a bit of a project, and he’s added some bulk to his lanky frame. But he blended in a bit and doesn’t have a calling-card skill at this stage, although the hope is that he can become a viable 3-and-D role player at some point"

Lecque could be the next Morant.

Bazley is just kind of an enigma to me. Not sure what he is or if he is anything at all

Both are enigmas and huge projects at this point. With that said, I’d prefer the Jazz not play it safe. Take the biggest “swing for the fence” kid at every pick and use your G-league and developmental staff to unlock their potential. TBH, I’d probably take a hard look at both of them and then slot them appropriately.

(Of course, I probably would’ve taken Anfernee Simons over Grayson Allen too.)

I actually assumed a lot of people would compare Lecque to Simons, but I didn’t like Simons last year and def am liking Lecque this year.

I think he’s more athletic and “mature” looking than Simons but Simons is longer, no?

Samanic is my guy at 23 until I see something better. I'd take him over Kabengele for example.
