What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Russell should be the target. If we get him, we can build from there. We don't need to piece together the PG position anymore. Conley is great, but his impact would be temporary.

Russell
Mitchell
O'Neale
Gobert

That is our core going forward. Hopefully, we can add to that too.

There are a handful of advanced stats that all agree: Russell is supremely over-rated. I'm, like, 3% as interested in Russell as I am in Malcom Brogdon. I'd be stoked if we signed MB. Their contracts will be pretty similar, it seems. Wild.

Which is why it's not smart to spend $18 million on a backup center.
To be honest though, talent is talent. While I’d MUCH rather see the Jazz focus on spending money and assets on wings and guards, I don’t think they can afford to let players as talented as Derrick Favors just walk without getting somebody better or something back in return. Better to keep the talented players - even if it is an imperfect fit.

With Favors and Gobert on our roster we have the ability to dominate the inside game, be strong on defense and get easy baskets no matter who we play! We just need a couple of better than average outside 3 point shooters to round out an unstoppable offense! Many of these top notch playoff teams miss a ton of 3 pointers from game to game. When they do, we need to capitalize on those misses with baskets ourselves, be they 3 pointers, 2 pointers, dunks, free throws, etc. Execution is the name of the game, and that means keeping our core players who have played together and know how to execute our offense to perfection!

I basically agree... those two are interesting... can you take a guy like Brogdon and keep his efficiency and ramp up his usage? Or is it easier to help a guy with a high usage rate bring it down and become efficient.

I think Malcolm ends up getting less than Russell due to perceived upside.

My bigger issue with Russell is we kind of have the same thing we are doing with DM... we need to cut his usage a bit and make him more efficient... I'm not sure its beneficial for both dudes to have similar challenges. DM gets to the line and so I have high hope he can get more efficient... Russell doesn't at all, which is tough.

Malcolm is better on defense as well. He does have some injury concern with his foot I guess... caused him to slip in the draft and I heard someone mention it is still a concern.

Except Clint Capela

Locke has talked up Lowry a few times since the playoffs started. And Zanik used to be his agent. And there was a rumor that came out of nowhere before the trade deadline that the Jazz wanted to trade for Lowry. Might be a trade target if Kawhi leaves...

I think it’d be like the 4th or 5th option but yes. I’m not sure what they’d want... might be able to send some salary back so we can clear room for other moves. He doesn’t have as much value as Conley... I’ve always liked him.

Locke and Tony Jones have also said there was some mutual interest between the Jazz and Lowry the summer Hayward left.

I want to sign Jabari Parker to be the Utah Jazz starting SF in 2019 and I plan on also drafting Naz Reid out of LSU and in the Second round drafting Dedric Lawson as a incredible front court duo and Option. I want to trade Derrick Favors to a team that needs front court depth and can return this depth in return .

When you’re on the wrong bus - even if it’s a really really nice bus - every stop is the wrong stop.

You want to destroy our defense that badly?

4th or 5th? Dude’s not even on my list. He’ll be 34 before the playoffs even start next season and typically blows in the playoffs anyway.

It’s wildly short-sighted and desperation move.
