What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

That said, we have a massive uphill battle to make the finals the next 3-4 years. The Dubs, Nuggets, Blazers, and maybe even Rox are formidable. And the Lakers and/or Clips could be.

Kings have a solid young core too. I don’t know if they have the coaching to match. But as far as talent goes, if the Kings figure things out they’re going to be another player in the west.

Yep and they’ve figured out shooting matters. Hield, BJelly, Barnes, Bog, an improving Fox.

Let's go get Aussies. Patty Mills, Delly, Ben Simmons, Jonah Bolden, Arron Baynes, Thon Maker, Andrew Bogut, Brock Motum, Issac Humphries. This will keep Jingles and Dante company and provide Rudy and Spidey help. Plus the barbeques will be fun.

I honestly shouldn’t dismiss the Mavs either. It’s a star’s league and if they get one star...with Doncic...and Carlisle.

Rockets need to figure out how to get off CP3s money. I wouldn’t put it past Morey tho. I could see him doing the hard thing and moving Capela in a 3 way in order to pull it off.

It's win now time. Another stagnant year and 4/5 finish and Rudy is going to be pissed.

Create a max spot, use it, and move #23 for another impact player. LFG.

Yep. The time is now. At the very latest, the time is the upcoming trade deadline.

No major moves this summer or by the upcoming trade deadline = we treadmill ****ed and probably lose Rudy and Donny soon.

Management needs to be extremely aggressive, but I’m worried the good will be the enemy of the great and an overly conservative approach will win out again (refusing to include Exum in the Conley deal and already talking about keeping Fav...GTFO).

Not saying the Jazz should do this, but

I think some people here are interested in TJ Warren. He's missed a ton of games due to injury, though (I think around 1/3 of his games). Gambadoro also said Josh Jackson's value is around a high second/low first. He just got arrested this weekend for trying to sneak into the VIP area of a music festival and then trying to run from the cops after he got cuffed. Maybe Igor could give Utah some intel on Warren or one of their other wings who become available.

I would definitely take a chance on Josh Jackson. Maybe TJ Warren too. During the draft, I would trade Korver and #23 for Jackson and #32. It's worth the gamble. I know Igor was the coach last year but that roster and franchise is a mess. I think with better support around Jackson, and a better leader than Booker, maybe he could reach is potential which is still really high.

Financially, this isn't that bad for us:

Korver is $7.5 if kept and $3.44 if waived. #23 has a salary of $1.89. So waived Korver plus #23 is still $5.4 million vs Jackson's 2019-20 salary of $7 million. Picking up Jackson really doesn't sacrifice any big time summer targets.

We could select somebody with #32 or maybe even trade it for a very late 1st rounder in a future draft or for multiple future 2nd rounders or select a player we might have liked at #23 (Carsen Edwards, Admiral Schofield, etc.).

Dead on.

Does Porzingis not qualify? They are him being healthy ENOUGH from being a serious threat.

Overrated. As of now at least. It if he takes to coaching, he of course could be.

Imagine if they signed Kemba and were able to get Deandre back.

Kemba-?-Doncic-Zingis-Jordan

One guy we never talk about anymore is Mirotic. He'd probably be very gettable if/when we miss out on our top targets. Does the front office still have interest in him or has that ship sailed?

I don’t think the FO has any interest in him. I mean, interest like, hey, we’ll take him for a second rounder, but not interest in the sense of “we think this guy helps us.” They’ve already staked their opinion on him (twice) — that he’s not worth a first round pick. And if you don’t value someone enough to think they’re worth a first round pick, I don’t think you really value them at all, other than, best case scenario, seeing them as a decent accessory.

Now they could just sing him though without having to give up any assets. Favors is probably the better overall player but I still think Mirotic would be a much better fit, I'm guessing the FO probably doesn't agree. I'd also take him as a 6th man off the bench over Crowder.
