Following Potential Draftees - 2019 (not kidding)

He's okay. He just isn't explosive, and that limits his upside. Both King and Bazley have higher ceilings, imo. The Jazz are going to be tempted if he's still there at 23. I'm hoping he's gone, or that they pass.

Yeah, Horry was pretty explosive. The guy was so, so good. Good dude too. Bama boy. Roll Tide.

Okpala still seems like a solid get though. Remember that so many people bashed guys like Harden and Draymond for their lack of athleticism but some people just know how to play.

i'm not drinking the carsen edwards koolaid in the first round. he only shot above 40% from the field once out of 3 yrs and barely averaged any assists with a lot of usage. he even averaged more TOs than assists this past season. he's an undersized gunner and I don't think he can be efficient enough with the minutes he'd be playing.

The FG% concerns I get, he really isn't much of a finisher, and a short guy like him can struggle to find space in the midrange, but he can really shoot it from deep. The AST numbers aren't something I worry too much about, the Purdue offense was very strong with him at the helm. He'll never be a pass first guard, but that's probably not what we should be looking for anyways.

Great post.

If Carsen can provide some good offensive punch off the bench, then we should be happy to take it. I had some major doubts about Trae Young's ability to impact the NBA. I was wrong. He looks like a long term fit in the NBA. Same could be said for other guys throughout the years.

I just got a feeling that Carsen will be one of those Lou Williams or Jason Terry types who scores in bunches and has a long career because of it. I'm really impressed with his weight of 200 pounds and 5.5% body fat at 6 feet and his 6'6" wingspan. Maybe he won't be the liability on defense I thought he might be.

Never know... his age and lack of shooting could end up in him sliding. Every year there are guys who fall down the board... maybe not all the way to #23 but I could see him falling to the late teens early 20s range. I think shooting in an open gym during workouts people may forget why he’s good.
Nothing suggest him at 23 is him sliding. That's just where he is.

I've seen him top 10 and very few mocks in the late teens. this is one of those drafts where a guys range is 11-25 I guess... 2016 was kinda like that.

They're going to be tempted by his "Jazz demeanor." He's mature, articulate and laid back. You can tell he went to Stanford for two years. The Jazz are going to factor that in. He also measured really well at 6'9.5", 210 lbs, 7'1.75" wingspan. Also had a 37" max vertical. I've been comparing him to Robert Horry out of Alabama. He can probably be that kind of high-end role player, which would be a solid pick. I just don't see him as a swing-for-the-fence type of player.

BTW, it's starting to look like Louis King will slip to the 2nd round unless he just kills his workouts. I'm starting to wonder if he'll stay in the draft.
He wore 2'' heels

And you compared him to Paul George a few months ago

a) I don't know or care what shoes he wears
b) Yes, he breaks the paint and uses his length around the rim similar to Paul George, and hence I said he was like the "Paul George of this draft"
c) He's not my choice at #23, since I like several guys in my signature better

Clarke? He’s right around there on tankathon and the ringer.

Brandon Clarke is working out with Minnesota, Charlotte, Miami and Boston, who pick 11 - 14, respectively. He seems to be in play for Minnesota who think he might be a fit next to Towns. I wouldn't draft him there, but some team might. I'd expect him to be off the board at #23.

So if he wore 4'' shoes you'd call him 6'11.5?

No one plays basketball in 2'' inch high soles.

Clarke is not falling to our range. His athletic testing and college production will get him drafted around the end of the lottery despite being a center trapped in a PF/SF body and having t-rex arms. He wouldn't fit great next to Gobert anyway

You're CRAZY..... He's a perfect match... The Jazz need some pep in its step, and he is just that.. He's probably steal the starting PF spot before the playoffs.

Clarke would be a MASSIVE pull for Utah.... HE is OBVIOUSLY THE TRADE UP TARGET if there is one...

I've been waiting for those measurements, it all acutally fell right in line with what my eye test told me thruoughout the szn.

The key with Clarke is ya gotta remember he doesnt just jump 40+ inches, but he reaches that height quicker than most. he's a monster in space, perfect match next to rudy... Would help the team hit another gear, and he's very dangerous in transition from day1...

you can't convince me he wouldnt do well as the starter in year 1...

This is my review and interpretation of what ESPN currently thinks will happen...

1 NOL - Zion
2 MEM - Ja
3 NYK - RJ
4 LAL - Garland
5 CLE - Hunter
6 PHX - Culver (though I really think they'd take a PG like White)
7 CHI - White
8 ATL - Cam
9 WAS - Sekou
10 ATL - Hayes
11 MIN - Clarke
12 CHA - PJ
13 MIA - Bol Bol
14 BOS - Porter Jr.
15 DET - Langford
16 ORL - Herro
17 BRK - Nas
18 IND - Rui
19 SAS - Cameron
20 BOS - Nickeil
21 OKC - Talen (though reportedly they've promised Matisse)
22 BOS - Keldon (though I really think Boston takes a big with one of their picks--Goga, Bruno, Gafford or Kab)
23 UTA - Williams (I don't think the Jazz will go this direction, honestly. I think a conservative projection would be that they take Okpala, Nwora or Windler, though I'd hope they aim for more.)

Everyone here should be drinking the Carsen Edwards Kool-Aid....

He has a great first step guys... Will be nice fit next to Donovan and he is just a solid value on a 4-year deal in a backup capacity...

He's a match next to Dante and Grayson, doesnt step on anyones toes.

I always have said he is gonna be one of those guys like David Wesley, who's tough and makes big shots, but a new age player, high volume 3pointer.

Plus if they land a big fish for starting PG, the backcourt will be really much, what I like to call - sharper...

It's insane that Jaxson Hayes is that low... I refuse to believe thats gonna happen.. He's top-5 I think

Hayes could be a target for Atlanta at #8. I'm not sure Chicago would go big, unless they're really high on Hayes. Pretty sure that PHX is going to go for a guard, either Garland or White. Garland is supposed to be the front-runner for LAL, though Culver could be in play there. .....These are just rumors.

Okpala is the perfect kinda player/smokescreen where everyones BSing pretending like he's not that high on their boards, hoping he falls to them..

I checked in on him in HS and surely immediately posted it here, cuz he looked GREAT, and dropped like 40points everytime I saw him.

He is silent but deadly cold-blooded type, I think. He really can shoot it off the dribble too, which is sweet at his size and age...

He's like a lesser version of Brandon Ingram...
