What's new

Racist warriors fans

Nah, that's too much sarcasm. You should keep it balanced. Satire is tricky, too much of it and people can start to think you are serious.

So where's the line on how hard you dive into a crowd?

If one is concerned over safety, there’s a solution for it already; don’t buy court side seats. Perhaps the nba should get rid of them?

The reason why this isn’t talked about in the same way as the Jazz incident is:

1. This was a quick altercation between a player and fan triggered not by race but by his diving into the crowd over a loose ball. Different from the Utah incident, which resembled a slow burning candle where fans wouldn’t stop harassing players and it was reasonably proven to have been racially motivated.
2. Golden State’s crowd doesn’t have a reputation and history for saying racist things. Ours does. Getting overly defensive about it suggests guilt or admission of having observed overt racism at games (imo). Furthermore, our fans do need to tone it down. How many more years are we going to boo former players for touching the ball? Must we boo every call that goes against us despite being the correct calls? I’m all about creating a fun atmosphere but our crowd does embarrass itself by antagonizing visiting teams with our napoleonic complex.

Trying to conflate these two incidents and insinuating there’s a double standard is really grasping at straws here. There are plenty of incidents of hypocrisy to point at, but this case isn’t one of them.

Golden state has now suspended the fan for one year, slapped him with a $500,000 dollar fine, and is apologizing publicly. Maybe we should ask our fan if he’d rather be slapped with a $500,000 dollar fine instead?

From his point of takeoff to where his shoulder tries to go through that woman's face is about 10 feet:

He didn't even come close to actually saving the ball. It was wreckless as ****.

Maybe the fans shouldn't be there. That's a simpler solution and doesn't interfere with professional basketball players playing professional basketball.

The guy pushing him was purely a reaction to the severity of the situation.

Maybe the fans shouldn't be there.

The more I think about it the crazier this is. A half-million dollars. A whole year. For that nothing shove which was an instantaneous reaction to his wife nearly being taken out. The NBA is terrified of this being spun into a race thing.

Sounds like the Warriors admission of guilt here.

Absolutely that warriors fan is guilty of shoving Lowry. If it were up to me he’d be banned for life. Send a message to fans to stop ****ing with the players. Frankly, I’m tired of it. Don’t touch the players. You’re not that important. The game isn't about the fans. No one pays to see you. Let the players play the game. That’s what the focus should be. Wwwaaaayyyyyy too much tolerance is given to fans who act like complete assholes.

Just because you buy a ticket doesn’t entitle you to act like an animal. Same thing applies to assholes who take off their shoes on planes or those who hang their dirty feet over the row of seats in front of them during movies. Just because you have a ticket doesn’t entitle you to act like a disgusting *******. Imo, people who engage in such inappropriate and disrespectful activity, should all have their limbs chopped off.

Upset that the woman (maybe his wife) was crashed into by a player? Sit Up, away from the players. Never seen a player go up 7 rows to save a loose ball. Or better yet, sit up in the nosebleeds. But even that opens a can of worms with fans treating the arena and the fans around them as their own personal bar.

this 100% It's not a grey area, completely black and white unacceptable.

I think there's a difference between fans purposely ****ing with players and this guy who reacted in the moment. I agree with your point about tolerance towards fans who act like assholes.

I have no problem with the punishment that GS leveled on him. He’s slapped with a $500,000 dollar fine. Had I been in charge, I would’ve banned him for life. You don’t lose anything if he can’t attend games anymore. Wants to sell his shares in the team? Cool. Whatever. The Bay Area has no shortage of investors.

To my knowledge, fat racist from Magna, Delta, or wherever the hell he was from, didn’t face anything like that. Right? I mean, hell, slapping 99 percent of fans with a fine like that would cripple them financially for life, right?

It would almost be like the jazz organization leveling someone to their knees had they slapped that fat *** with a $500,000 dollar fine.

Saying offensive or “racist” words - life time ban (Jazz fan)

Calling player ****** - 2 year ban (Celtics fan)

Shoving players - 1 year ban
(Warriors fan)

I am confused, I guess the worse you do the less punishment it is? Of course unless it’s Utah.

eh i dunno what would make someone react like that even in the moment.

being a premeditated racist is far far worse than a little shove yes. Appropriate penalties

Don't touch the players. How hard is it to comprehend that fact, don't touch the players. It's pretty lame that our 'fan' got all this outrage and a lifetime ban and yet this rich owner gets a one year ban.

Also this stuff happens all the time. Hell Shaq of all people would dive into stands to save a ball, its part of the game. Its the ****ing finals for crying out loud!

Premeditated racism? Is that like “Pre Crime?”
